I wonder if owner settled for payout does that automatically mean a salvage title?
I'm not familiar with Ontario regulations, but Manitoba and I believe Alberta both will automatically brand it as salvage if the insurance company considers it a total loss, but is that the same thing if the owner takes a payout?

Why would the Tundra have anything to do with Haggerty?
Insurance companies share information

most states in the US do to

Who cares if it will have a rebuilt title if your buying it for yourself to enjoy. Nobody puts a big red stamp on the side of the car that says salvage

Anybody notice that it hit the rail so hard it tweaked the quarter on the other side. That thing is going to need some hours on the frame table before ANY cosmetic work begins!

There's some nice hardware there though...

I think some people are confused as to what the "retail value" means. That's not what they expect to sell it for.

Their definition:
Retail refers to the estimated Retail value of the vehicle as submitted to Copart by the seller, displayed as "Est. Retail Value" on the Lot Details Page. This value represents the price prior to any damage and is provided for informational purposes only. Its accuracy is not guaranteed, and Copart does not make representations regarding its validity. Retail automobile values can also be checked using sources like Kelley Blue Book.

Let's face it, probably a lot of cars on here would have been marked as salvage before they where rebuilt by us. Just the insurance companies never got involved is the reason they weren't.

Salvage title in Ontario is no big deal. Fix it up, get it safetied, take the paperwork in and the MTO will give you a repaired registration and plates.
It will diminish the value though . Barn finds no matter the condition come with a clean title usually. I was in the car biz for 35 yrs and the term “Salvage “ freaks people out . Even if it was some innocuous reason for being totaled. Human nature…

A few years back I was rebuilding 4 wheel drive pickups. Had to take 10 or 15 percent less then retail, but mostly farmers wanted them to work the farm. They knew they were going to be beat to death by the time they were done with them anyway

but is that the same thing if the owner takes a payout?
That's what I'm wondering, does insurance ownership = branded/salvage titles?

Does it show up as "repaired" on the title?

True , but why not buy this and drop a 440-6 in it ?

I got a kick out of that ad, almost 90K for that car, and only 11 crappy pics of the exterior, none at all of interior, motor, trunk undercarriage, nothing, even after they said this "We offer Professional Photography, HD Movies, and Staging that Sells Cars. Let us showcase and sell your specialty car."

When I clicked on it, an ad for a 70 Challenger convertible came up.

I can't speak to other states/provinces, but generally, if the insurance company says it's totalled it's automatically a salvage title if You or somebody else purchases it from the insurer. This is one of the biggest rackets IMO that has gone on for decades now. They used to get away with paying You less if You decided not to repair it or do it Yourself, but We have laws now that finally deep-sixed that BS, but they'll seize the vehicle totalling it & auction it w/o Your permission or knowledge if You're hospitalized....even when it is full of personal/business items & property. Bunch of greedy F'ks, a Friend I've known from the start of HS(that's 45yrs now!!!!!) had it happen to Him,....took it & sent it to the f'n auction lot w/o so much as a word, some of the power tools & equipment were gone, His business files & other account info were thrown in the bed, covered with snow & rained on......WHEN He finally tracked down where it went, luckily He was physically able to, ignorant greedy bunch of POS's is all I can say about it..........
EDIT; in PA We have to get a reconstructed title once the vehicle is repaired & inspected by one of the few insp. stations certified to approve it as properly restored to safe & roadworthy.

I picked a car at random …probably better cars out there . Point is that you could find a whole car and drop a 440-6 in it . But as was mentioned in a previous post it will most likely sell for less.

Some of you are reading the auction wrong....the $70k is the estimated market value before the collision.
The $44k is the estimate to do the repair.
The final auction price hasn't been determined yet.

I am surprise nobody mentioned how thick the bondo was on top of the passenger quarter.
