18" Wheel help

-
Anyone rolling gold colored wheels. I see a good deal on some new in box enkie RPF's, 18x8.5 et+40 x 4 =$699. As I said, they are gold in color, might look good on a black car

looks great, I like the deeper dish, but that doesn't allow tire rotation front to rear...a 3" wider rear end would take care of that....XJ 8 1/4" rears are 3" wider....
That's certainly an option, I'm working with what I got. Someday I may move the springs in board and widen the wheels which makes rotation a moot point. But, you are correct.

So here is another curve ball.. I just found a B-Body 8.75 it says 68-70, will the 489 center section off of my a-body unit interchange?
The B-Body already has BBP axles and i have the complete drum brake setup coming tomorrow.

Will everything else lineup as far as the leaf springs and driveshaft?

Thanks,

perches need to move in 1/2" on each side (center to center is 43" for A body, 44" for B)...if you already have an 8.75 or even an 8.25" rear, the driveshaft should work.

the B body rear being 3" wider will limit tire size in the back unless you go higher offset. when I measured clearances on my duster, the stock SBP 7.25" was 57.125" wide, and the wheels were almost perfectly centered in the wheelwell. with a 60.125" rear, with typical mopar +1/4" offset (4.25" backspace on a 7" rim), anything bigger than a 225 out back would require trimming or rolling the rear wheelwell flange on my duster

Yes, the 489 pumpkin will interchange fine.

The nice thing about the wider B-Body axle is you might be able to use the same wheel on the rear as the front if they are both higher offset. That's how I can run a square 17x8 +30 setup.

That's exactly what i want to do.

Exactly!

I run a 68-70 B-body rear axle in my Duster. You do have to move the spring perches, and anyone that tells you otherwise is a shade tree hack. The good news is, if you're moving the perches, get a DoctorDiff 1/2" spring offset kit and move them to 42" C-C and get some more room for tires.

I run a staggered set up on my Duster, but my 18x9's up front have a +35 offset and my rear wheels are 18x10 with a+38 offset. So it would be easy to run the same wheel/offset front and back on any of the Sport body cars with a B-body rear axle.

So here we are again, winter is finally going away here in Michigan (i hope).
Dr. Diff has everything i need now for my rearend, including axles, spring relocation kit, Power Lok unit/gears along with bearings.

I decided it will be easier to have the springs relocated so that will give me more wheel options.

So once again the search is on.

I really need to get this ball rolling again so i can have it ready for some summer shows and cruises.

I have a spring relocation kit coming out this spring that moves the springs in 1/2" and uses a unique slider setup instead of shackles and includes delrin bushings. This is far nicer than anything ever offered prior. Pics coming soon.

I just got a new set of wheels in late fall so I can have dedicated wheels for my autocross tires. They are Kansei brand Street Wheels | Kansei Wheels

I'm running 18x9 and 18x10.5 (offset leafs and sliders, a-body rear)

I just placed my order with Dr. Diff so here we go.

I purchased the rear spring relocation kit along with the perches. That being said, what options do i have now for the rear as far as offsets?
It will be a stock 8.75 with drum brakes and BBP but with the springs moved in the 1/2".

Thanks

So it's an A-body 8 3/4 with the 1/2" offset kit and BBP axles?

By the math it's about 1.15" less per side than what I run with my 68-70 B-body 8 3/4. I'm running 18x10's with a +38 offset, which is a 7" backspace. That would work out to an 18x10 +8 with an A-body 8 3/4 and BBP axles, pretty much no wiggle room on those with 295's. 18x9's with like a 275 and you could do more like +0 to +20. By the math you should end up with about 6.85" from wheel mounting surface to the springs, so if you figure 1/2" of tire overhang and a 1/2" of clearance your maximum backspace is like 5.85". With 18's that works ok, if you go to 15's you need to figure more tire overhang than that so say 5.5" max backspace and that may even be a bit generous.

you are correct, it is an A-Body 8 3/4 with the spring location kit and BBP.
I plan on running 18" wheels front and rear. I really like the look of wheels like Bergman has on his Purple Dart. I believe some are made for the newer mustangs.
Really hoping the spring relocation helps with wheel variety.

Thanks again for your help @72bluNblu

No problem!

It should, there’s a decent selection of 18's with a +8 to +20 offset. 18x9's and 18x9.5's are pretty easy to find in the +25 to +35 range, but as soon as you hit 18x10 there's actually more available in the +10 to +15 range. I've actually considered changed back over to an A-body width rear axle because of the selection of 18x10 and wider wheels in the +15 ish offset range.

I have 68/70 B 8.75 and DD 1/2" spring kit. My wheels are 18×10 +24 mm offset with 275/40/18 tires. Out front I 18x9 +30mm and 255/40/18 tires.
I'm not sure about the rear offset as I think the come +22 in the 18x10 as well. Either way the fit in OK, but the offset needs to be more for anything wider. Wheels are not cheap, but
I got these wheels and lug nuts for $400 off FBM, so they're good for now. I have 6 cars and tires are not cheap either so I've been getting some good deals on good, used tires off Ebay with free shipping. I was skeptical, but I got the 4 General AS-05 tires on the pink car with very good tread for about $600. Depending on the wheel and tire combo you're looking at you could be in for that on just one wheel.

Mustang AMR Charcoal Wheel; 18x9; 30mm Offset (05-09 Mustang) - Free Shipping

These are only 8" wide but would they work for the front and rear being 30mm offset?
I would still prefer a bigger tire in the rear but really like the wheels.

Uh, they have 18x9's in the same wheel with a 30mm offset as well.

The 18x8's in a +30 would fit the front and rear, but you'd be limited on tire width to a 245 with the 8" wheel. Of course if you go to the 18x9" +30 you'd need spacers in the rear with the A-body width rear end.

I run 9s all around. The best scenario is the same size all around as well. I run 255/40s. I’m running Falken RT-660s. Ideally the rim would be 9.5.
