340 dyno video from Brand Racing Engines

Cool video! That's some good numbers out of that combination. The builder says 12:1 with 112 octane, Mahle custom pistons, and Crower 6.25 rods. Someone needs to start making some motor plates or (even maybe even a fabricated timing cover!) like that water outlet adapter... Be a nice raffle win!

why only 30*? thought he would have tried the magical 36* for SBM

I watched it but I didn’t stop it on the graphs too see how much more timing killed peak torque.

I know one comparison graph showed a big gain up top but it took a pretty good hit around peak torque.

What’s the chamber like on a W2? No experience with them. They like 36 degs?

Compression similar? That is a significant difference!
436” is 13:1
355” is 11.6
Just curious, why go from 436 to 355? more rpm?
I shifted the 436” at 7200 rpm, 355” gets shifted at 7300 rpm. I sold the engine and put the car back to street and sold the car.

I had a 3.46” crank with BME aluminum rods with pistons sitting on the shelf so I put them in a 340 block so that’s why I went with smaller cubic inch. It’s what I had at the time

Ah k, was just curious if it was a performance choice for some reason :)
