Yyyessssss, you, too, can learn awllllll about it in this promotional motion-picture brought to you by the nyeww 1960 Chevrolet!

First there's a clever little quippy little dig at the advertising tagline Plymouth used in 1957 ("Suddenly, it's 1960!"), on account of the '60 Plymouth looks just like the '57 Plymouth, haw-haw-haw (except for um it's completely different, not least because the '60 is unibody and the '57 was still BOF). No mention of the fact that the '60 Chev is the same as the '59 except different taillights and trim.

Then there's the hallucination that at the very tippy-top start of the '60 model year, a Chev dealer took in a '60 Plymouth in trade.

The real fun starts at 3:26, though. Not only do we learn that the Slant-6 makes a car dangerous to drive, but also that it's all-new, which is a bad thing (after we've heard about other stuff on the Chev being good things because all-new). Also, that crossram V8 engine Plymouth offers? Pshaw, that's just a screwy name for an intake manifold, and an uproven way of saving gasoline!

Et cetera. Grab yer popcorn.

omg i'm buying a chevy saving $16 and it comes with a cig lighter
smoke-em if you got-em

Well, the 60 Chevy does look better than the 59. And the 60 Plymouth doesn't look as good as the 57.

But of course, the 59 and 60 Chevies, as well as all of GM, had styling that was a direct - even panicked - response to the awesome 57 Chrysler Corporation cars.

best vid i seen i a while ....i do like the 60 chevy bubble tops ....never thought one would shop a plymouth to a chevy
but people did.... and to save $16 ha

There was a Plymouth dealer in Johnstown PA that, in the 60/70's, used to put brand new GM and Ford cars on their used car lot. I always found that amusing, but I am sure it was just likely a sales gimmick.

Wow! What a bunch of propaganda!

They had no idea they were lying about a legend. lol
And that engine tilt could cause a weight imbalance and a crash that could kill someone. All Mopars with slant 6's do that you know. They all pull to the right. :BangHead: :BangHead:

i didn't know the cross ram was about gas mileage.....what 1/4 mile at a time
and think of all the $$$ money your saving over a year when you only have to put 4 quarts not 5

Don't get me started on how great Chevrolet was...

And here I assumed that the slant & offset compensated perfectly for the weight of the avg. Operator, & made the vehicle balanced........'toopid 'toopid Me....

If it wasn't for this ''truthful'' video, Chrysler would have sold a million MORE slant 6 engines in cars.
Boy, am I ever glad you posted this Dan, I was about to make a big mistake.
Now I'm going to buy a '60 Chevy especially because of the cigarette lighter...

I always wondered why my 59 and 64 Fury’s were so awkward to drive. Damn push buttons on the left LOL
Can't speak to the '59, but they put the buttons on the left in the '64 so the weight of the button mechanism would counterbalance the extra weight of the engine over the right side, in case if the car would be built with one of those dangerous Slant-6 engines. If it was built with a V8, well, you just had to live with the extra tire wear and unsafe handling caused by the extra weight of the button mechanism on the left.

But since we're on the subject…just how much extra weight do we imagine the Slant-6 puts on the right front wheel, compared to the amount of weight the notoriously-heavy battery puts on the left front wheel? Asking for a friend.

Funny my friends mom had a vw rabbit in 80
When we where zooming around on the back roads if you leaned into the corners it stuck better

Who knew a 5% longer stroke wore out my slants sooner?!? I sure wish they would last longer with that 3/16" stroke difference.

Ha my dad had a 68 dart 225
Story was it had 450k on it in 77 when we moved from va to nj
He was driving back from va with a trailer when the rear went ...some guy said he would tow back the trailer for the car
4 years later dad drove by the place and guy still had the car ....how much more will they last

I showed that to my wife, who used to sell Lincolns and Mercurys in the '90s.

She said they got the same crap, only they had to watch it via Special Live Satellite Link™ from Dearborn.

She can sell ice cubes to Eskimos.
