Who out there has relocated the battery to the trunk ? What size positive wire going to the starter did you use ? How did you route the wire going to the stater ?

Why do you want to do this?

Different reasons might require different safety devices

I have a paxton supercharger. I need the space to put the catch cans from the valve cover breathers. Plus i want to move the horns to that area because i am going to put the supercharger air filter through the rad. support where the horns are.

0/1 gauge cable: Trunk => into pocket between body and interior panels => into door scuff plate wiring channel after some persuasion => under carpet => through new grommeted hole in firewall to starter.

Same here except I used 1/0 welding cable due to its flexibility. And this cable is dead except during crank as I use a "Ford" relay in the trunk by the battery to only energize it when I crank the engine. This prevents any future chafing/rubthrough concerns as a short would be pretty evident if it only occurred during crank.

CE Auto Supply out of Arizona is where I got the kit I used for the relocation in my Challenger. The kit not only came with the needed cables (so much better cable than a hard to bend welding cable most people use) it came with circuit breakers. Instead of pulling the terminal off of the battery to disconnect power just push the button on the breakers! He is a Mopar guy too and was great to work with.

^^^While pretty pricey, that looks like a nice kit. I don't like the positive cable being hot all the time (while the car is being used), but that is easily resolved with a Ford relay. I also didn't see any specs for the circuit breakers but from looking at the rest of the components and the website, I'll bet they're quite capable or a quick call to them would also get the specs.

As for "stiff" welding cable, it's really very flexible. I got all my stuff from BatteryCablesUSA.com. Good guy there to deal with too!

@crackedback makes and sells battery cables for battery relocation. He's also very knowledgeable about setting up the wiring and shut offs

I put a battery post junction on the front rail. Ran the cable from the trunk to it and used it as my Pos. battery terminal like it is the battery. Ran my original battery cable from the starter to the terminal installed.
