318 upgrades

What I find funny about this 318 vs 360, Everyone would be for a stock 2bbl 360 or even 4 bbl with duals and a good tune. Even 4bbl 360 with stock cam and low cr, people would still say a ok performer and be torquey (330-380 lbs-ft) for what it is.

Now a warmed over 318, mild cam, 4 bbl, headers and tune would make similar torque at similar rpms aka similar overall power. But for some reason it said gonna be a turd, under power no torque. A decently built 318 can make 400+ lbs-ft the same torque as a mild 360, but somehow when a 360 makes 330-400 lbs-ft it's torquey but when it's a 318 it ain't.

And yes I know a similar built 360 than a 318 will make more torque, (but that's what gears are for lol)
A warmed over 318 making 400+ lbs/ft ain't gonna feel torquey at the lower RPM of a 400+lbs/ft 360 because now you're talking about area under the curve BELOW peak AND part throttle tip in. This is where the saying of No Replacement for Displacement comes into effect. I would never sink a nickel into a 318 over a 360 if there was even the remotest possibility of a 360 being a possibility. J.Rob

Yeah,yeah,yeah...truth is all you "318 defenders" would take a 340-360 if it was cheap or free like a 318...facts...
You were part of the discussion and doing well on post #56 and 58 and then on post 103 you started being a dick. You're not welcome on this thread if you are just causing trouble. Having a difference of opinion is one thing. Being a dick about it is something that I don't allow. I think I should open your deleted posts so everyone can read what you are all about. Bye! You're outta here.

My point was if they made similar torque at similar rpms even down low, (so a lesser 360) cause one is a 360 they will call it torquey and ones a 318 gonna be a gutless low torque engine. Even if there producing similar overall torque.

I'm not trying to convince anyone a 318 is better, just has more potential then a lot would give it credit for, people over sale the negative/con aspects of the engine.

Especially since most just want to do a basic hop up, tune, 4bbl, cam and exhaust to an already running 318 engine.

Don't take his purpose away from him, he obviously needs to hate on UTG and 318's, I'm not sure if I have ever not seen him sneak one and or the other in to a conversation no matter the topic :)
Seen him make some spot on comments, too, so he knows something.

Dart Swinger, you are very closed minded and ignorant. The 340 god mentality here is much like a case of "arrested development" mopar style. You seem to be disillusioned in the way that anyone building a 318 is a poor ignorant fool who can not afford to build anything else or has nothing else which is far from the truth.

The 340 is also a good motor and is as well like the 318 a simple production motor with its own flaws and drawbacks. But there is a world past the 340 Lil Billy it just seems to not be found here.

Funny there DS, looking over the pages of your postings show you have nothing substantial to add to any post other then to bash 318s since most your replies are in 318 posts so you clearly have a hard on for them or maybe used to get your *** kicked by a 318, who knows but your bias shows like a bright light in the night.

Folks do not need a you tube channel to call someone out whether its about there car, skill level or abilities. But for some reason you have a real disdain for anything 318 related but feel compelled to post to everything 318 related. Again some folks need to put there money where there mouth is.

Yea, your shitting up the wrong tree talking trash to someone you are clueless about. Ive several things sitting here that will spank your *** all up and down the east coast... all you got to do is put your money where your mouth is.

Im more then happy to share my rides and builds from fun 318-s to nitrous strokers (are you?) but will be dammed if I will let some one liner fourm poster with no life who knows nothing about my world trash talk.

I was warned by someone here about the anti 318 dicks and was advised not to post about them but here we are and here I am.

This is a great site with good info via the search engine and its one thing when one posts there dislikes or objections but you seem to like to beat it into the ground which is very counterproductive to any good topic.

If your so anti 318 id be more then happy to pay for your "318 Sucks" neck tat, hell its pride month you might make some new friends.

See, isnt it much easier to be civil and act like adults vs just being a drive by dick?
He could probably buy a bunch of 318s up & resell them for small profit & then not hate them quite so much

So why bother to comment? Can't hold in the hate? Do something else with it!

He was being dickish between the lines, in #56 &#57!

It's all just old tribal knowledge.... 340/440 fast. 318/383 slow. If you ever meet a true-blooded 340 guy from the 70's, they will denounce 360's like the plague.

From what I've heard (online here) and seen (engine builds) from RAMM I wouldn't discredit him that's quickly, when he disagrees with me I give what I said a good revaluation :)

My uncle is like that, 340 or no engine, 360/383 are boat anchors to him. A 318 is for putting leftover 340 parts on so the car is usable while working on the 340.

I see no hate here, only logic and reason. J.Rob
Problem is why people choose one engine over another a lot of the time has little to do with logic and or they care about some other aspects which has little relevance to you, I and others.

No skin off of my back with building an engine of your choice. There's a couple of engines in the Mopar family that I don't care much about but not gonna dis them in someone's thread. However, my only foray into an LA teen was several years ago. A buddy and I threw a handful of mismatched parts at one and it ended up running a mid 13 @ 102 with a 60' of 2.2! It didn't turn on until 3k rpm. Should have been faster with the 102 showing up on the time slip and being so dead down low was a major disappointment. The short block had just over 100k miles on it along with the 904 having the same miles and being the weak link. The car was a 72 Demon that was all stock body etc. It surprised me that it only weighed 2950!

And in talking about smaller small blocks, how bout a 265 in a 56 shoe box that pushed that thing to mid 11's?? Launch at 9k and shift at 10k!

I do try to. But don't remember

How much air can you pump is basic physics of Horsepower building.

I fail to see the lack of logic in RAMM'S post.

I do have a solid 360 base but not interested in it atm. My now retired stroker going back to a high rpm 3.58 street beater. Im sure I will get roasted for this because its forbidden but a simple early block, half filled, oddly has a thicker deck then some but it lived for five years at 7500 with a 4 inch crank and on a ramped 250 shot. Has maybe 75 full passes so not severely used up.

I have most things on hand to see if I can hurt this block at some point but I think it will only fail from fatigue or another part takes it out. What I described above performed flawlessly as a stroker and should have an easier life with a 3.58 stroke.

But for now it just sits and waits. Hard to find any good used floating stock stroke .060 pistons these days.

This will make some folks nuts tighten up. NOOOOOO you cant do that!!!!

Ok so build a 360 but it still means nothing when the guy at the light has mid 400 inch build and that casting flash on the block that looks like a big capitol letter.

OMG your tiresome, you ignore all my points, pick on one small aspect, Strawman it and move on to the next strawman argument, very Troll like behavior.

Read it again never question RAMM's logic.

I don't know how to look at someone's listings on site. But I saw DWs reaction score was 1000 more than his posting number & that told me he was getting responses to things people don't want to ignore or let slide.

...Dart Swingers reaction score...sorry

I do not go down drama holes. Some view the social reaction tabs the same as a mother patting her four your old on the head. I expressed I looked at his postings and found neg. replies and you posted about a positive reaction score. Great we can all glean what we want from material we observe.

Be nice just to move on with the topic at hand.

Reaction is just that. Not negative or positive. But most don't get 1/3 more reactions than posts, or do they? I assumed they were negative, as I said , I don't know how to read old posts!
