No Lift 360 Swap Tips/Suggestions

Yeah clamp & bolt out. Won’t turn either. I was tapping the blade of a 5&1 between the base and block, but the angle was not great. I pb’d it up.
Probably too man years of Quaker State oil when the car was young...lol. If you're just pulling the motor without the trans, it should come up fairly level and you won't damage it. There's nothing down in there that would hold it, so it is gummed up and stuck to the hole in the top of the block where it goes in. You can get to it better when it's out in the floor.

Day 3 results:
The trans bolt that also secures the trans dipstick to the block was insane, and it may never go back.
Everything is unbolted, but the transmission and block aren’t coming apart. I pb’d it and went to bed. I also found the condition of my frame rail, where the trans linkage connects, to be sub par:

Moderator,
Sure seems like my posts get buried since I defended myself against personal attack. What say you moderator?
If so, I hope whoever is responsible doesn’t celebrate independence day, because too many souls sacrificed their lives so we can speak freely and defend ourselves when we are talked down to.
Free speech matters, regardless I didn’t call anyone names, I just agreed to what was already suggested by that kind fabo user, and included his mother as an assistant. Boo hoo, what do you really expect?
Whoever is responsible for deleting free speech and shtting on my account has no right celebrating American freedom and independence. July 4th is not for you at all, ever.

Thanks again to anyone who offered helpful suggestions. Everything worked out. Believe it or not, getting the 360 in was easier than getting the 318 out.

Kind of late to the party, but my first suggestion would have been to clean up that shop. Give yourself some elbow room.

I mean you can leave the auto in the car but its a pita as it has to line up going back in. I have a 4 speed and i always drop the gear box and pull the engine with the clutch and bell bolted up then put the gear box in from underneath now, you san install the whole shebang engine trans bolted together I've done that but it involves jacking the rear of the car way up and the engine kind of slides in on a bananna like arc pattern. theres more than one way to skin the cat in this situation.

Agreed! I cleaned a ton of crap out of there to get that far lol. My landlord is a complete slob, and half *** extraordinaire. He let me clean up his 20year old mess and do the swap just so he could have an excuse to say a hole things about it daily. Dude is a wicked narcissist dirt bag. The hardest part of the job was dealing with his scumminess.

Maybe I got lucky. Part of my strategy was not moving the car at all so realigning would be optimal, and using the same chain position. I used some muscle and once those 2 pins started to find there holes it was all over.

First burn out. I took my foot right off because I wasn’t sure about the open short tubes:
