My latest endeavors are a factory looking plate to convert an AC Firewall to Heat Only and an OEM style Heater Delete Plate.

I will update when I have progress.

AC to Heat Only Adapter Plate

The AC firewall has a much larger hole for the motor

The plate will have studs in the back to utilize the OEM holes in the firewall to mount it and I'll make a foam gasket for water proofing. The plate is flat with a OEM looking lip around the parameter
(This plate is the prototype, no studs and no lip yet) There MIGHT be the need to drill one hole in the firewall or enlarge one area of the stock AC opening as the Heat Only motor is not dead center in the AC motor hole.

Heater Delete Plate

I noticed while making the AC to Heat only plate that there were 4 small holes in the firewall that seemed to have no purpose.

@Cuda Al correctly identified them as Heater Delete screw holes.

Doing some google searching I found this FABO post Delete Panels and these photos of an OEM plate. I can not tell from the photos but the front of the plate SEEMS to have a raised bulged area in the center (if anyone has an OEM plate and can confirm that it is flat or budged I would be very grateful)

Since I had the dimensions of the holes and other dimensions I drew up this plate and am having some made. This version will be flat and 18 gauge mild steel
The gasket is the Standard heat only gasket available from various suppliers.

Done.

I have 4 available. Pm if interested

I'm referring to the heater delete.

I'm still working out the details of the AC to heat plate. But I do have the plate cut just not finished.

Thanks for the response. I am looking for the AC to heater plate. My car was gutted for drag racing, i gathered all of the heat components before learning about the blower openings. I will keep an eye on this post.

I am interested in the A/C to heater only conversion. I found and restored a heater-only box before I realized that it wasn't just a box swap. This adaptor plate would make this much easier! Keep me posted on progress! Thanks in advance!

I have a few I could part with

It would require you to locate it to the firewall ( basically mount the heater in the car using the heater core pipes to locate the middle left end and the cowl vent attachment for that end then attach the plate and circle the big holes through the firewall for the attachment bolts.)

Let me know

I need to buy a bead roller to get this finished

Any progress on this? I have an AC box i would like to convert to heat only using the smaller blower motor and recess it in the box for valve cover clearance..

Any progress on this
I'm kind of stalled, the lip on the metal plate is proving more complicated than i expected.

Also the firewall will need a couple relief cuts made. I wanted it to be plug and play but that's not going to happen. I have one sample plate left if you want to give it a try pm me.

In this photo the plate is attached to the heater and on the inside of firewall for test fitting and hole locating.

The 2 arrows point to the areas where the firewall needs relieving.

The lower one is the condensate drain hose hole. I cut perhaps more than I needed to but I needed the clearance to be able to move the heater up/down left and right.

The second is on the left, there are 3 small notches around the opening and this one needed to be elongated a touch. Again maybe not as much as I did.

When the plate is done and on the outside these release will not be visable and if the car was to be reversed to an AC car should not be an issue.
