Is the 42rh and 46/47rh valve bodies the same and interchangeable like the 904 and 727?

Yes. The 1993 and later 42RH, 46RH and 47RH valve bodies use an additional boost circuit that increases line pressure approximately 5 psi anytime the converter clutch is applied. You can easily identify these valve bodies because they have a tube that goes from the top half to the lower half. Valve bodies with the tube are interchangeable with the valve bodies without the tube, however, if you’re using a valve body without the tube, adjust the pressure regulator adjustment screw one turn counterclockwise to compensate for the lower pressure.

Was that the google ai overview? Caus that talks about the boost tube not interchangeability.

I pulled some of the wording so I didn't have to type so much. But they are the same valve body. It will work fine. All of the "RH" valve bodies will interchange. Springs are a bit different but I think you would not be able to tell any difference. It got strange when they went to the electronic governor.

What are you trying to to do? Transgo makes a nice kit to fix most any problem that VB had.

I’m seeing if I can swap the valve bodies. Plain and simple

Depends on the year. What year transmission are you working on?

The case casting changed in the pump suction area where the valve body bolts to the case in the 1995-up 42/44 transmissions. It is larger than the 46/47 transmissions.

Also, if the 47RH is from a diesel (not a v10) the shift valve springs are different than a gas 46RH.
