INDY 'modman' 2x4 intake. How much would you spend if...

Yessir, I assumed anyone local already knew about it. It was my first 'training wheel' motor in the Valiant. I stripped-off the Indy TR intake and 4150 carbs, Jesel belt, oiling system valvecovers etc and took it apart for a once over, ported the heads a little more and swapped the pistons from dish to flat tops. And of course volunteered to 'trick-out' the Modman for a pair of Doug's old AFB's that he had just gone thru.
Didn’t know, I am on the other side of the state and rarely see those guys anymore. Saw Doug down in London at the Mopar race year ago last October.

I like that reply, thanks. I think the work he’s done is phenomenal. My question was with regards to being able to sell them. I don’t see a $1500 hand made option being viable when guys can spend $400 or so and make within 60-70hp of the handmade version. There are a select few who will want the extra hp AND have the cash. My knowledge of tunnel rams available for big blocks is zero so I appreciate it.
While revisiting the post, I misunderstood your comment. The initial idea was for Indy to cast both the B and RB wedge modmans in this way. Leaving material in places for a standard port opening AND further experimenting. It's less of a MODular intake the way I have it because I straightened the runners to draw from each of the eight barrels.

Could you explain how you came up with the height of the "box" ?

I hadnt noticed before, but I see there is an addition to the floor. Not sure you would amiable to it, but if you could put together a "kit" of some sort for the floor and the runners for us non-fabricators, that would be great. LOL Somehow I would get the box made.

Appreciate the sharing.

Sorry for the delay...it's been a long week. The entire intake remake was guided by pipemax for cross-section and volume. The plenum spacer was compromised a little in volume to allow for better carb to scoop placement. It's basically 2" tall. The floor is a Sheetmetal bridge bent at an angle that continues the runner angle to its peak in the center. That piece is sealed with welding and epoxy around the perimeter. The runners are as long as I felt comfortable based on the internal layout, The RB intake being a wider would be better for most applications (likely ALL). If I did make an insert 'kit' it'd be a while, the soonest would be this winter. But it's unlikely going to yield justifiable returns on my investment. There is enough pics and shared info for anyone to do this themselves and I'm willing to answer any questions.

Ok, several questions. The UHMW, how thick are those pieces? I'm guessing 3/4" ? The additional aluminum pieces you welded to the runners, 1/8 or 3/16?? What brand and type of epoxy did you use? I wanted to do the exact same thing you did for the same results.

Thank you for the help.

It was 3/16" and the UHM is only filler so, whatever filler you choose (handy) that'll hold to epoxy is fine. I used AB moroso. If you look close you'll see i cut back the original runner to get the runners pointing where I wanted them (intersecting the scribed barrel marks on the new plenum floor) I'm surprised how well the epoxy has held considering the heat its seen.

Sean, this is the coolest thing I've seen in a while for these hot rods. I love it!
I saved these photos to my computer and I will see how my hobby funds go in the future, I think this would be really cool on my 69 Dart but I know that buy the time I bought this intake, carbs, and the small parts it will get pricey real quick. Everything you touch is fast and well thought out.
I currently have a mild 500" RB, Indy dual plane intake and a basic 850 Holley. I figured the first thing I'd get rid of on this car was the intake and carb but it is so snappy and fun on the street, I haven't touched it. I have the big Hemi style hood scoop so plenty of room.
Camshaft is just a 540 lift Hyd roller, this engine dyno'd at 583 hp, 600 torque.
I think the 'Seanman' intake and a couple AVS-2 carbs would improve power.

Thanks! Takes one to know one As spread out as I allowed myself to be for ‘25 I haven’t made much progress on my own hoopty. In the meantime my local track more or less upended the class that I am tailoring the new motor to. So, maybe I’ll show up at a Mopar event or 2 in ‘26

I haven’t been on here much recently mainly because the firewall won’t allow access from my main computer. But some people have PM’d me about doing the work on there intakes and for now I’m not doing anything additional on the side. But if enough people showed interest I could work with Indy to change the intake

Well shi* that sure sucks Sean. Doesn’t hurt to chase some Q-16 racing. Especially if you’re not limited on what you do now with your cars weigh, cubic inch, etc.
