New water pump leaks

-
I saved my 340 pump years back. I should try rebuilding it for a spare. Thanks
Just an FYI- ASE doesn't list much old stuff on their website, but if you call them they can usually set you up. There's other suppliers (and rebuilders) too, after all it's just basically a bearing and seals.
Examples:
1970-75 Dodge Plymouth cars 318 340 360 V8 W/O A/C new water pump rebuild kit | eBay
1965-1969 Dodge Plymouth cars 273 318 340 V8 A/C Water Pump Rebuild Kit | 2402794 | OE | Mopar | Belt Driven | Steel Impeller | Gasket

Other than paying more, is there any disadvantage with going with a high flow/high volume pump like the FloKooler and the Miloden assuming the the high flow t-stat is used?

Funny thing for me that when I bought my Milodon WP 6 or 7 years ago it was actually a GMB pump in the box!
I should say that it has worked fine on my car up until now and that these pumps are normally pretty good in my experience!
I bought a Milodon W/P 5 years ago and it was GMB also. Cost a lot more than the same part sold as GMB.

Yes, The Miloden high volume pump uses the GMB body casting. They install a larger diameter shaft and bearing/seal and increase the flow by enclosing the impeller. I just ordered one on Amazon along with a high volume thermostat. Great price!

When I ordered the pump on Amazon this morning it was $106. Now its $149...they weren't kidding about it being a special price.

A new tire bought 5 years ago is still a 5 year old tire. The seals will dry and harden from time.
Don't blame the part, any item with a rubber/flexible type seal that uses a liquid for lubrication should be used in a short period of time.. Next time buy the part when you need it and don't buy any waterpumps that have an inch of dust on the box from sitting on the shelf.

If you actually read the Milodon information it tells you that they start with housings from GMB and then goes on to tell you about the HD bearing that they use and their enclosed impeller, etc. Having used both GMB and Milodon, they are significantly different when you carefully compare them.

Being an avid reader I see now that this is claimed on Summits website but I certainly saw no reference to this when I bought my pump from Mancini! In fact they still don’t and Milodon’s own website doesn’t seem to mention this either!
