Hey guys i had to pick up the /6 and i assume 904 trans that was stored at my dads shop because they are trying to make more room and clear some stuff out but is a 904 worth hanging onto? I have no immediate plans for either at the moment

My first thought is if the pump body is good and not scarred up that I’d keep for sure!

/6 ones aren't, I had one posted for $20 or a case of beer and had zero hits (came from a running/driving car). It ended up getting scrapped.

If you picked up the slant and the trans, why would you consider not keeping the trans? You say no plans for it at the moment, but if you do use the slant, won't you need the trans? Or are you planning a manual trans for behind the slant when the time comes?

IMHO…. If you have the room and can keep it sealed up, it is s worth keeping.
Even /6 cores are getting harder to find when you need one.

If you end up getting rid of it and aren't tight on space throw it on marketplace for $100 and eventually it will sell... i leave **** up there for months and eventually someone will need them, they aren't making more of these parts and every one that gets scrapped just makes things harder for someone...

I have a spare just in case. If I need to sell it I can or scrap it if necessary. A core may go for $100 so not a deal breaker. I have the room so I kept it.

Nothing wrong with it being for a slant 6. Some of yall act like that's the kiss of death. SO little Torqueflite knowledge. If it's a 71 and up, it has the part throttle valve on the valve body. That's a nice feature. Also, slant 6 or not, the valve bodies will all interchange from 904 to 727, unless they are the early cable shift transmissions. Lots of other parts interchange between the 904 variants as well.

if it's not full of water or rusted out, it's worth what the yard wants for one. out here that's about $175
if it's janky, or otherwise not easily freshened up then call it a core, so 75~100
