1/3 mile dirt track. 63 dart 360 2bbl. rev limit 6K. racing duration~20 minutes plus a few heats. how often should I change the oil/filter and should I use regular micron filters or a racing filter? thank you for your time. RR EDIT what weight (summertime) & should I use added zinc oil and synthetic or non synthetic?

Sounds fun!

I use the Jomar 100% No Bypass oil filters on my hotrods. I just can't see running anything with a bypass with the exception of high mileage street cars.

Driven Racing Oil is hard to beat. Call them and ask their opinion. Everyone has one as you know.

How good is your air filter set-up?

Good luck!!

Ask your fellow racers. They know what works.

Use syn oil. It will withstand higher temps before it breaks down. Circle track racing has the engine under high load, not for seconds like drag racing, but for minutes. I would use a 5w/50 oil.

Spanel Engines up there in Cheney sells it. He has retired, but he still does select work and sure he still sells the oil. You might want to call up there first, because he keeps his door locked.

they're all chevrolet boys! JBC how do I get ahold of driven?

I do not have an oil sponsor. yes I have heard good regarding Driven. iirc the oil geek on utube said not to use added zinc oil after breakin. I dont remember exactly why, your thoughts please. RR

Big, big believer in Driven oil. It saved me from larger issues recently than what I could of been dealing with.
Quality product.

Because the blend is critical. All additives and the base stock must be in the correct ratios for the lube to be most effective. Introducing additional ZDDP additive, which could be a different type of that already in the oil, can change the blend to the point that the oil is less effective than it was originally.

Driven is good stuff. You can probably find a product from them that has plenty of ZDDP for your application.

The HR series of oil they sell has ZDDP for flat tappet cam use, and other properties that aid cold startups when stuff has sat for a while.
I used to run the Lucas hot rod oil, but this stuff is much better, and doesn’t leave residue like Lucas does.

OK, driven it will be with zinc. also they sell both do I want synthetic? and on a dirt track how often should I change it/and or the filter?

Synthetic is a superior product.
Dirt racing has unique challenges with which I have no experience. I'd imagine dusty is worse than muddy. If you can trust those Chevy cretins, ask them what's appropriate for your oil change interval.

Driven Gp1 is your best bang for buck. If you don't know your bearing clearance then start with 20w50 and go down if oil pressure allows.

Your rev limit is 7000 for an open motor. Crates are 6200.

Use the wix racing filter if it will fit. Make sure you have air filter/housing assy. sealed tight. Who did your carb?
