Does anyone on FABO seen or know the owner of this 1965 Dodge Dart. It resides somewhere in Illinois.

You could always call the IL State Popo, & tell them it's been spotted near Kindergarten Playgrounds, asking for help finding their 'lost puppy',...........then watch the news.....

Yes. we call the license plates here, Tags. Not sure why anyone would call them license. Your license is in your wallet or purse. Maybe just call it, your car plate number.

I don't.know about the state that dart is in, but in california, NO, you can't search for an owner by the plate number, it's illegal.
And besides, o.p.is in Sweden, gonna be hard to get dmv help here.

That's really odd and must be an east coast dealio I suppose.
In Cali the car will be issued a license plate.
Tags are stickers month on the left and year on the right.
Color changes each year for easy ID of current status for LEO.
Cars for sale here will often advertise a clean title and tags are current due to back fees here can be exorbitant unless you paid for it to go on non operation status.
I'm not sire how to continue. I tried California DMW to ask just questions but I could not go thru due to living outside US.

Here in Florida, when you pay your vehicle "Tag", in person, it's called a "Tag" agency, not a license agency.Lol its been called a license plate for decades....

I know the rectangular metal alpha numeric thing that is afixed to the vehicle as a "license plate" and the month/year stickers as "tabs".
I was thinking the indentation on a License Plate would be " The Tab " and the yearly sticker would be referenced as a " Tag".
Our local DMV now open only 3 days a week is helpful and sometimes no wait.
One of these days when I'm bored I'll have to go in and find exactly the legal wording here in CA.
I may have to go on the warpath to rename Tags to simply " Stickers " lmao

If you have no luck finding it thru other means, you could get a licensed Private Investigator to run the tag number in the pic. Due to the Privacy Act that was signed into law after 9-11, law enforcement officers aren't supposed to run tags for their buddies anymore. They will get 20 questions from their superiors if they do it outside of a traffic stop. Private Investigators have the same search ability but fall under different rules apparently. Good luck with your search.

Registration Plate; Vehicle is registered with the State/Commonwealth for license to be operated legally on highways & byways by a person possessing an Operators License. Many (PA being one of them) States/Commonwealths did away with Expiration Stickers or 'Tags' on the Registration Plates.
State Safety & Emissions/IM Certificates of Inspection; affixed Stickers or 'Tags' certify said Licensed Vehicle has passed State/Commonwealth standards as required.
The decision on what terminology to use is up to States/Commonwealths/(Provinces), & of course, unofficially.....slang by the user.
But never let an opportunity for a useless pissin' match go to waste......

The metal plate with alpha/numbers on it is the license plate. The stickers up in the top corners of the plate are the registration “tags” showing the last time the car was registered with the DMV for legal use on the street. This is in Calif. No idea about other states.
