1971 Dodge Demon Sold for $126,500 on Mecum

I'm saying if I was buying a restored car, I could give two ***** about how much someone brags that their resto cost. $199k or $299k, who gives a ****. Is the point of a resto now to out spend the next guy on resto costs? I'm resto-ing mine for $0 so am not impressed with yours or George's or Fred's resto costs.
Not sure where you are getting the "bragging " info.

The op posted this vehicle to show what it brought at Mecum's Auction.

Then, posts started appearing about the Car's authenticity due to the info on the fender tag.

It was stated in the Auction description that this car had certain items added that were not factory.

Every other comment was about how nice the car came out, how well it was built and trying to approximate how much it cost to restore it.

I didn't see anyone anywhere in this post bragging about anything , just discussing a very well built Mopar.

****, it ain't a 68 S/S car! Some, a lot of people got **** for brains. And I know what it takes to restore a car. And me personally I don't start with a car with only the roof left.
Then I guess you would never tackle this one LOL !!

1 of 43 1970 Hemi GTX 4-Speed .

Here are the pics and text from the rebuild.

The same guy who did the 71 Demon, resurrected this as well.

Are you saying you can buy a 68 SS car that's that good for the same money?

I have a local friend who restored a 70 Super Bee that was about that bad. It was an original 383 four speed, pistol grip Ramcharger Hood car. It was complete, but BAD. Drive train and all. Charles bein Charles, he restored it and put a 440 six pack in it. lol Course he still has the original engine. That car is a true testament to what you can do to bring one back, much like the one you posted.

Again anything you just start off with a roof is NOT FOR ME. Even if it was 30k I would not buy it. And just because Mecum says it worth X dollars don't make it so. How many on here would have paid that for an a- body 340. It's just plain stupid.

Well... I can't wait to see your car on here and what you value it at.

This is where you're gettin it wrong, Chachi. Mecum didn't say what it was worth. The bidders and ultimately the buyer did.

And Rusty they just sold a 68 Hemi Dart at mecum for 93K. But it had a race car paint job on it.

ps It was a number matching 71 Charger R/T, Hemi 4 speed, dana 60 car. All original non rusted body panels, original paint (red) car 44k original miles. Almost all original parts like block, Hemi trans, dana 60, wiper motor alt. ps pump, rotors calipers etc.. etc.. The only changes were the stroker crank etc. the roller cam, indy heads, intake and Dominator. O and headers. Made 660 hp at 5500. and I forgot about the 5 star wheels. Beautiful car. If you want to see pics look on B bodies as he was selling it for a lot more. He had no takers. I sold it for 45.
