Bonneville Landspeed Racing - Let's Try a Thing.

Got the grill and headlight bezels mounted after making block off plates for between the rad ducting and headlights. No need for air to go nowhere....and just build pressure.

Then cut the cross 2x2 bar for the reciever mount for push bar. Mock up looks like it will work.

I hope to drive it on Friday. See how things go and handle as to how fast I go.

Looks like it will be getting taken to get an alignment on Sat. Weather permitting. They are now calling for rain and storms all day where as yesterday they said only rain.

To put the amount of time you’re on the gas into perspective…..

Video of Nick Taylor going for his A license run-

I watched all of speed week each year and have watched all i can find since starting this goal. They had the advantage of much more horsepower and a free car that had been a landspeed car before. Also helps they build race cars for a living. I find it quite frustrating honestly so many big shops are borrowing proven cars to bump records and getting their hats. Getting nearly impossible for an average person to build something and compete with that.

How can some who builds race cars, borrow a car, bump record and feel they earned the title and hat? Ok. Off my soap box, carry on

You gotta be proud of yourself, I'm sure you're pleased with your work.
I do understand what you mean, but you did all that yourself, all the research & that's something awesome in my book.

maybe you'll be a hired gun, too
I do think it's cheesy but, thats racin' I guess
fyi,
you get this car sorted, I have an idea, or 5 (records)

steam be in your wheel house?
the brits spent millions, because they didn't understand vapor pressure, temp, refueling

if the car is solid to 150, the power plant is stupidly easy
and like bobby I in the daytona, could knock out more records

off the shelf stuff
then consider this

engine is air pressurizes water then propane, or electric as the superheater
this is easy pickin's, too
1786677709680.png

if it went 170, turned around and backed it up, (forklift tanks and just swap them,
unlike the brits that couldn't re-fuel it
thats 3 records
(only got a coulpe decades thinking on it, and 45 years in physical measurement)
actually, stupid simple, maybe
famous last words...

Those are some interesting ideas. Let's see how this thing goes and works. Then go from there

Build a car and implement any one of those ideas. We’ll come be your pit crew.

No video, but I drove the car 9.6miles with a top speed of 77mph. All felt really good. Didnt overheat. Ran right kn temp. Doesnt pull or dart around. Need to adjust brake bias and get a feel for the shifter. Doesnt transition to 3rd well. I am very excited though. On the trailer ready for an alignment tomorrow.

KOOL! I don't remember what transmission but if it has threaded rod linkage, adjust as normal with the pin holding it in place. when done, lengthen the 3-4 rod by one thread. this will help guide it into 3rd easier. not my trick but one out of an old Mopar mag I saved...figured somebody might need that info sooner or later.

Where is the love button?

Alignment done. It was deal close. It is now set at 1/16" toe in, 0⁰ camber and 7⁰ caster. Also, adjusted the shifter. 1 arm needed to be unsent some. Was there 7hrs. Charger? $0.00. Friends helping friends. Great people.

Push bar for truck is done and paint is drying. Push bar for car is done except anchor for parachute. Easier made at work.

Well, I made the parachute anchor today, pulled the wheels off and threw the new tires in the truck. Mount and balance the fronts and just add the metal valve stems to rears.

Brake line and alternator adjuster will be here tomorrow also
