You should be ashamed of yourself. That looks soooo cool!
Have you been able to find a new grill?

Well I got the fuel filler shaved and the drivers door handle. I also bought a set of nos sill plates and am having fun getting my glass deck lid to seal using the weather strip. Anyway lots of fun and lots of work.

Well when I was younger I painted my engine bay semi gloss black. I did it right and used a gloss black base and a semi gloss clear. It looked nice but when I had it at the shop where I learned body work the guy spilled paint and scratched it. I wasn't going to let that slide so I decided it needed to be redone yet again. Well I am older and wiser and decided that since FJ6 is the color the car will be the bay should match. I have spent the last few days cleaning, filling unneeded holes and now I sealed it in epoxy primer.
I forgot to take any before pics.
I still need to shoot the color and clear, I messed it up in one little spot so I have to wait for it to dry and sand a small section.
The first two pics are kinda of a before by by 318 hello 360
last pics is the 360 in the semi gloss bay.

The next to last pic is on my new valve covers that Rob gave me. (Thanks Rob I love them!!!!)

it's 100 degrees out and I think it is about time to take the boat out I might not paint till tomorrow.

Looks good Ross! I can't believe you can even go outside in this heat, much less work in it! We're over 101 at Renton Airport right now and it's getting hotter!

100 up here in Arlington right now too! Ross it's looking good!
I ended up buying the 74 K frame and disc brake set up from Kerwin, thanks for the tip.

I just herd it's 103 here in Kirkland.
wow it's hot. I know I keep asking myself why I'm out here.

I am also making progress on my other tail light!!

glad to here you were able to pick it up. How is the front end coming along?

My very first car was a '76 Volare roadrunner. The previous owner dropped in a 340, 727 and an 8-3/4. Cragar S/S rims and air shocks. It was painted burgundy with silver and grey stripes. The seats were done in a burgundy velour. Hey it was the 80's when I bought it! I drove the living crap outta it including one very nasty Dukes of Hazzard style jump. There's two guys that still refuse to get in a car with me. :-D I'll scan some pics if I can find them.

'cept for all the sweet thats dripping off of me!!!

it will either be done tonight or tomorrow morning

I also have been messing around with the other tail light. Remind me to never do this again in 100 degree heat.......

Most likely I will spray the bay in the morning because I am done.... for the night

do they look even?
I hope so

Ross, it's hard to tell if they look even from the pics but one thing is for sure ... they are going to look good. Good job!

Thanks Ben
They aren't quite and yep it is hard as heck to tell when they are multi colored like that and cut unevenly. This heat isn't doing me any favors.

Ross, your car looks like it,s coming along! The taillights are a nice added touch.Don,t know how you can weld in the heat?Keep up the good work!

My parents bought a 77 aspen se with a 360 new and I remember like it was yesterday riding in it. That car ran good smoking anything it came across, my mom had a lead foot, most notably was every trans am and camaro in town! It was only a matter of time before these f-bodies were discovered as the hot thing to hot rod these days. Cool build.

got a little paintwork done today now I get to rehang some fenders and doors and do some priming and blocking!!

I had a good day at the swap meet yesterday, after everything was said and done I walked away with 400 profit and a brand new mini starter. I got the mini starter by selling some things for my friend on a commission and the mini starter was the same amount as my commission! I also bought a set of dart interior panels because Tara's needed to be replaced and a OD 4spd.

The coolest thing I bought was a set of fatman drop spindals for my aspen!!

These retail for $525 + shipping and I picked them up for $225!!!!

so after buying some things needed and paying my dad 100 bones I walked with $400, not to shabby, also considering the stuff I sold was stuff I didn't need and didn't want. I didn't have any luck selling the big stuff that I thought would go first instead it was all little stuff, and stuff like an A body A/C set up that I had no desire to haul home.

Very nice. Sorry to say this but was just forced to scrap a '79 R/T. Wasn't much left of it except for glass. The F's make some nice projects and it's nice to see you bringing one back to life. Going back to your original post, though, with you saying all the typical F-body rust, where exactly is that? LOL. I had a '76 Aspen sedan which the rear was rotted out and my sister's ex had a '76 Volare sedan in which the front was all rotted out. If we cut 'em in half and welded 'em together we would've had a spotless car!

thats a good point they typically rusted...
mine rusted like an A body but now that I think about it the fenders rusted too so I just got lucky that the floors and trunk and extensions were mint and that the 1/4s weren't too bad.
