I wanted to know how many of you started out as Mopar drivers. What was your first car you had? Was it a Mopar or something else? If it wasn't a Mopar what made you a fan of Mopars. I can honestly say my first car at 16 was a 1970 Dodge Charger. It was pea green and way to much for me to handle it. I hated that car. My dad was suppose to have got me a 69 Camaro at least that was what I wanted. Over the years I drove different cars, I even had a 69 Chevelle Malibu convertible which I loved and a 69 Chevelle. Now I wished I had that Charger back even if it was pea green.

i learned to drive in my dads 1962 plymouth fury.
my first car was a 1973 dodge dart /6 auto. one night the front frame where the tortion bar goes in broke. had to hold the car in drive to get home. every time i turned it shifted. great car and good memories.

My first was a 74 Swinger that I bought at 15 for 300$ still have the car used it in my wedding even hopefully will be back on the road next summer (had an accident)

I still have my 1st car. 1971 Dodge Demon, 318, 2 barrel, and astro turf in the trunk. My neighbor had the car for years and I always told him I wanted. I was on about 13 or 14. When I was 15 he said he would sell it to me. I was into motorcycles then and sold what I had and even got a little help from my dad, but she was mine. Have had it for 15 years now, and changed the astro turf the day I got it.

I had a very brief experience with a '78 cutlass until the trans went out. Then I went on to this '68 barracuda... I just wish I still had it!

My first car was a 1974 Plymouth Duster with a old worn out 318 in it, in fact I still have the car.

64 Rambler 4dr. 6 banger. Paid $20 and a sixpack of Pabst Blue Ribbon. Trunk flew open every time you hit a bump. Next car was a 68 GTO 4sp. Over the years I've had 24 Mopars. Currently, 70 340 Duster, 72 Demon Race Car, 67 Barracuda Notchback

My first car was a '68 VW. That happened because when I was too young to drive, my friends and I took the bodies off of old VW's and ran them through the woods. It was a blast! It led to buying one for the street. I was a muscle car guy at heart, though.
My Mopar affection came from (at the risk of name dropping, but it's what happened), my neighbor, the owner of SS&DI magazine's "Project Six Pack". I was a teenage kid who liked to hang around the "cool race car".
It didn't take long to end up with my '70 Challenger R/T, 383, 4 spd. 3.91 rear. No frills. Yeah, I wish I still had that one! (I bought it from that same neighbor.)

I learned to drive on my dad's '78 Ford F250. 300 inline, 3 on the tree. My grandad bought that truck new off the lot and now I've got it. But my first car was a '76 Charger. The ugliest yellow and green you'd ever see. 318 car. Hated to get rid of it, but she was a wasted hulk. Moved on to my '69 Sport Satellite after that. Pop gave $300 and a blown 454 for the Plymouth. Still got that too. But the Charger was a car I'll never forget. Had a blast in that car at the age of 16. Brought my niece home from the hospital in it, just a few days after she was born.

76 Dart Sport, 318 2 barrel, 8 3/4 rear end, rust in the typical places, including no floor boards in the back. Cost more to repair the front end when I hit a curb going 35 than it did to buy it (also cost me a Spring Break trip to Florida when I was a Senior). Wish I still had it...

When I was growing up, my dad worked at a Dodge dealer and drove dodge's exclusevely. He drove Hemi's, six packs...you name it, but when he was in the garage at home, he restored Mustangs. Stupid as it sounds, when I was younger, the Mopars were so commonplace they weren't that exciting...but the Mustangs were. When I was 13 (in 1981) I bought a 67 Mustang GT convertible and my dad and I restored it, which became my first car. Since then I've had 4 other Mustangs, 1 Shelby Mustang and 16 Mopars...so I guess I came around.

Mine was a 57 Chevy stepside pickup. I bought it in 82 when I was 14 for $400. It had 36,000 miles on it. Some old guy had won a new Ford in a contest and parked the 57. I hauled hay all summer and saved up for it.
By the time I was 16 it had been gone through and had new paint. It was my Daily driver until I left home at 18 for the Marines.

Unfortunately, I didn't discover Mopars until about 8 years ago when I bought Tammy a 75 Dart 318 to bracket race in. It is in England now, (Ebay) but we have the others to keep up company.8)

I wish I had known about them when I was 14 and had the opportunity to grow up around them like some of you did.

A 1951 Ford 2 door flathead 8 , 3spd. bought from original lady owner in 1965 for $150.00 with 48,000 miles. Only blew trans once. lol:cheers:

I don't know what year it was, it just said ford on it with a 6 and three on the tree:clock: I think it was a 61 62 had the Barny Fife look.:-D

My parents have always been MoPar owners, which is strange cause my grandfather was a huge Buick fan.

My parents bought back in 1964 a Dodge Custom 880, then in 68, a A108 Custom Sportsman van.

My dad gave my the 880 when i started driving, and bought a 1982 Dodge 400. He bought my sister a 76 Valient with a /6, white with a dark green top and interior, EWWWWW.

I was moving to Ca, and we went out and bought a 78 Chrysler LeBaron 318.

He sold the 880 grrrr. In 95 my dad retired and bought a new Chrysler Town and Country LXi, then he sold the A108 and bought a 87 Dodge minivan.

They just gave the Dodge 400 to my son and bought a used 2003 Chrysler Concord.

The have always bought mopar. I however have been a traitor, I owned a 79 Ford LTD, not proud of it though, worst car ever. I had to have it though, sold the Lebaron when i moved back to Wa, and had to have something to drive.

My grandma gave me her car a 88 Cutlass Calais with a Quad 4, nice car. Died when a rock hit the timing chain cover and lost its oil.

I bought my Satellite after that, and i had a 92 ZX2, traded that for a 2002 PT Cruiser, that got totaled and i bought the Scamp.

Also had a 91 F150 and have a Explorer the wife drives.

I took my road test in `75 driving my Father's 318-powered `69 Coronet 440 4 dr.

Waiting at home was my first car: a `64 Polara 2 dr. hardtop with a Poly 318 - auto.... and oh-my-God what went on with and in that car! =P~

First car was a 75 Dart Swinger green metallic color with the vinyl roof. Loved that car, lots of good memories. Toughest car I have ever owned. I beat the piss out of that thing and it just laughed at me.
50 mph reverse drops, 100mph in 2nd gear, constant foot in the radiator, it didn't care it was all about the fun!

It was a barn find that dad picked up for grandma to drive. I drooled over that car for 2 years and when it was time for me to get a car I was surprised by dad saying he bought the car back from grandma for me!

Had the car for ~4 years then sold it and bought a 83 Cutlass that had nice keystones and was a real eye catcher, but that was about it... What a mistake that purchase was.
At least the guy that bought the Dart replaced the /6 with a 360 and fixed it up.

Skip ahead 15 years I decided to get back to my Mopar roots.
I sell off my 98 Z28 12.8 second camaro and start building up a 71 turbo Dart. :-D

The build thread is in my signature.

First car was a B5 blue '69 340 Swinger,4-speed.Bought it in '73 fo $1100.00. Grade 11 and was only 16 yrs old. Man am I lucky to be alive today. Kept the car for 8 1/2 yrs and only drove it 2 winters. Sold it and it went through 5 people before I found it about 12 years ago and bought it back. It only had 10,000 more miles on it than when I sold it and it was only 10 miles away in a basement from my home and I didn't even know it. The guy that I sold the car to, took the original eng out of it and put a '73 340 in it, but I located the orininal eng last August and was able to buy it. The car is on a rotessarie now and being restored. The stories I could tell you about me and that car..... Keith

Man thats a great story, you definitly are blessed........or lucky :-D

My very first car (in 1984) was a '72 Swinger with a slant-six. It was Medium Green Poly with a white vinyl top and rally wheels. After high school, I drove the damn thing all over the western United States. Then in my early 20's, I let a buddy of mine (who drove a '73 Challenger) talk me in to having it sent to the crusher. He always referred to it as a stupid little slant-six A-body that will never amount to anything compared to his mighty E-body. At the time, his forecast sounded somewhat believable. Boy was I a stupid young buck back then or what?!
Anyway, that started my addiction, and I've had only Mopars ever since.

72 Dart Swinger
83 Rampage
93 Intrepid
02 Intrepid
06 Charger R/T
and my pride and joy - 1970 Dart GT

"Drive 'em 'till the wheels fall off"

My first car was a '65 Corvair 2 door 110 engine 4 speed my brother gave me for christmas when i was 15. I still have it. My first car that i bought with my own money was a '71 dart 4door /6 auto B5 in and out, that car was the one that started my a body "dodge fever" and it was a great car, i went everywhere in it and it never let me down. Then it was on to a '71 Demon 318 3 on the floor, it was the best car i ever owned. Then on to b bodies for several years, and then back to a bodies since. I started buying up all of the a bodies i could find in the late '80s and amassed quite a collection over the years. I really love them for their looks and their ease of working on and the interchangability of the parts. That's why a few people called me a Dartnut, hence my avitar and handle i go by!
I gotta sell some one day, but i can't decide which ones to keep, i love them all!
