CAR HUNT! or BOF & me car shopping!

-
well...update ?

Sorry,
was really busy racing the weather, with bodywork, for windshield replacement.

Here's 20 pics of progress on FOTO! Of course I broke one of the few good windshields in vehicles I've bought. The only other one was on Fern and I broke that one too! All the others have been cracked when bought!
Cheese & Crackers! I might as well throw a hammer through them as soon as I get them, and they all leak when I buy them!! LOL!!
Have a good one USAJon!

To Every one on FABO reading this thread,
I am sorry for temporarly turning

CAR HUNT! FABOZENE8)

into FOTO restore thread but at least this way you guys know I'm not goofing off while "Unemployed" and you all help to motivate me into getting -R- Done too!
Thank You FABO!!
If not interested in car hauler thread, I'm sorry, but will be Dart related very soon!

We did look at a F150 that ABB saw, but not exactly what we were looking for, plus I'm saving funds for the next 2 Abody purchases!! LOL!!

Hope to start hauling cars (junk or otherwise) in about 2-4 weeks. I have to really hump ,on Fern and BOF to get ready for show 2nd weekend in MAY!

Well see ya next time on

Does this mean your done dog tired :happy10:

Thanks for the PM Wolfy!

Dog tired is an understatement! After no bodywork exercise over the winter, I'M FEELIN IT MAN! All 48 years worth! Took Saturday off and will be working FERN's body today!

SEE YA!8)

Forgot to mention all,
It's OK to submit your own

CAR HUNT! FABOZENE8)

posts here too!! If anyone goe's for a buy trip, get some pics and post em up here! No Purchase HI JACKS though and don't under cut another member!!!
Just PM each other behind the scenes, work it out and keep the thread "CAR HUNT!" trips only.

Thanks all! Don't be shy, post em if ya got em!:-D

WOW! If I had that, I wouldn't have needed what I got!

I'm planning buying junk cars and scrap. I wouldn't haul scrap in a trailer as nice as yours though!
If I do 2 junk cars a week, I'm making what I was on unemployment. Now all I need is a dump truck to complete the total self employment mode!!! Just grasping at straws but really didn't want to miss out on any Darts in the future due to no second drivers and not willing to pay shipping!
It started as a dolly and a pick up. Well the math was looking to be 3-4K for good truck if you could find one at that price, and a trailer was going to be 1500-2500 depending. So I got this for 35 hundy willing to put 1500 in a tranny if I have too!
Went and picked up my double "J" hook / chain ($85.00!!) to hook up to winch hook. Now I'll be able to haul safely!
I hope everything works out!8)

Don't you have a truck to haul that garage with??

I have the wifes Chebby Avalanche. Does good with it empty.

Nice score on the lights!

You sir are an inspiration to all. Glad your part of FABO.

Nice job on the roof repair.

Purists may fork the sign of the evil eye at me, but I'll say with no compunction that my '92 F150 has been the second best vehicle I've ever owned- and I've had no real difficulty finding cheap parts for her when needed, either at the parts-store or the junkyard. Biggest single problem (other than waiting for my slipping tranny to grenade :angry7:) has been rust.

Don't sweat it about the windshield- we've all been there.

New Batteries Installed, Runs and starts every time now with no ether.
Headlight doors and grill installed.
Clearence and cab lights installed.
Appointment made at tranny shop.
Will be junk yarding today.
Had to stop last night. Was installing stock radio and found burnt harness from last owners engineering! Had wires puked out all over dash, went out to go to Double D's this AM and thought what the heck!
It fired right up! I guess all the burnt and cut/disconnected wires weren't needed!! Big suprise!! LOL!! It will take a while to get it back in order so still no radio yet, but then again I just wanted to fill dash hole till I found speakers in the doors stock from Ferd.
New drivers door panel installed.
All glass inside and out cleaned and now no overspray on them. I can see!!!
Found major rust holes where floor meets rockers from the windshield leak, Here we go again!! But will finish Fern first for the show in 3 weeks.
Well, better get to it.
Have a great day today Homecloned!!

I found the perfect car hauler for you. Check it out!!

I would defenitly get pulled over like that!8)

FOTO update pics. Not much done, worked on Fern today too!
Check out her restore thread too!

See ya! It's off to the Vinyl store in Hamilton, OH tomorrow for material for FOTO's interior.8)

Then to the junk yard again!

Ran an ad in the local papers for cash paid for junk/scrap cars. Starts Tuesday for 2 weeks. Wonder how I'll do?:read2:

In reference to the last pic. I found a bunch of disconnected, burnt, melted wires under dash. It will take a while and I need to locate wireing diagram for 86 ford f350 diesel.
A few years ago, this looked like so much electronic spagetti, but now I can read it like a road map! Thanks to uncle sugars electronic training!!
Do you know how to tell AC wires from DC wires??
AC wires are shaped like waves an DC wires are straight in a line!! LOL!!!:toothy10:

64dart170,
You are one crafty son of a gun. FOTO is looking good.

Thanks man!!
The kind words from members of FABO are the best things to really fire ya up to keep going!!
Thanks for the shout out & have a great day today!!8)

I might have enough foam to add another inch or two of padding on the dash. Used to do these in vans in the 70's. We used to pad them at 4" thick for really radical "couch like" appearence to the interiors. When fabric is used instead of vinyl, it feels like you're climbing into the couch in your living room!! The dash pads in this model of Ford is one of the hardest for angles and deep crevaces. I've only done one other like it back in the day for a friends work truck, and he would be asked about his dash all the time. He had 4" of padding. If I have enough I might go that thick on this one but I think 3" will be plenty. Besides if you go too thick, you'll need a phone book under your butt to see out the windshield. Or do what I'm doing, putting idiot sticks (clearence markers), Cat Wiskers, lighted semi truck style, on the corners of front bumper. They will look cool once I get them installed too!

looks great, hows fern's body work coming?

Thanks, Fern is stalled again, there's only so much of me to go around! LOL!!:toothy10:

The push is on BOF's dash & detail for 5/1 sat. show! Rain date 5/8
2nd in line is FOTO, they might be both going to the show, it's local, ABodyBetty can't attend so I thought BOF could go piggy back on FOTO and it would be good networking to get paying jobs for FOTO & me, and what the heck FOTO could get one of those cool gas pump trophies for my office!:read2: LMBO!!:toothy10:
It's held at a Vo-Tec high school benifiting the auto class. Funny thing, small world, the guy that stiped my car worked on overhaulin on 2 episodes, the rat rod with the red/white checker fire wall, and the 57 chebby silver with teal flames on back quarters for a young gun. He didn't stripe on show he was metal work and body. When I asked how he ended up here local he grad the local high school and went to the very same auto class the show is held for!! He's only 23!!! He travels worldwide to stripe too! Hope he can make it to the show but this weekend he's striping in Knoxville TN. The show for the class is just a small show 100-150 cars but the young guns really liked the 67 & 64 last year and we won our first trophies ever for anything! ABB cried at the presentation just like miss America! LOL!!
So right now it's BOF and FOTO till at least Sunday. Sides, I had to fit in sink of dishes, 1 load laundry, push mowed 1/4 acre, mowed with rider another 1 1/2 acre, washed mowers, run to tire shop, bank run, beer run, hardware run. Oh, I did fit in 4 hours sleep last night too!!

Not bad for 50ish!! LOL!!

I mad at Fern right now, she personally ran walmart out of 60 grit sandpaper, well FOTO helped. Been waiting for restock for a week now. Did score a box yesterday on the hardware run.

I promice if I can mix a batch of patch, I'll smear some on her for ya! LOL!!
Today we'll be working 2 dash pads, scoreing a different drivers fender, bout the same hole at bottom but not the huge dent we are dealing with now. I'll be tring to hang a fender on her today and hopefully fit in her head install later if my help shows up.

Well enough chit chat, We're burnin daylight right now!! well almost...We're burnin Dawn right now!! Heck half the day is blown already!!!:toothy10:

Have a great day today MAC DADDY MOPAR!!

Keep it safe and between the ditches! Check on Fern's thread later, I'll try to fit something in for her today but only 2 more days to show and the guys on the dash pad thread are already beating me up for update from yesterday, theres more of them than you and me, scarry huh??8)

I think that barracuda belongs to the guy who owns the car lot next to the George St Bridge.... you know the one with the red caboose??? If not he has one that is almost the same.... there can't be too many of them running around Aurora!
