You may have to leave one shim in, but I'm tellin you, they way overdid it at the factory. If you open up the radius on the fender, where it gaps up against the cowl, you can get the door and fender in right there. Throw a rebuild kit in the hinges and if your decklid won't go in to meet the quarter extensions, open the hinge hole on the side that won't go in and it will move.
Chevys have bigger adjustments and movable radiator supports, so they're a little more forgiving. Dry fit the fenders a few times and once you love them, pull them off and slap some seam sealer between them and the apron/ inner fender for final install.
