    Engine leaning out at 3000rpm

I was wondering about the exhaust. Is something restricting the exhaust-like the muffler, bent or kinked exhaust pipe. If the exhaust is restricted to flow-the engine will not have good vacuum especially as intake air flow will cause the engine to lean out as the throttle opening is increased...

    Car dies in "run" position

Check the ballast resister since you have the dual ballast resister. The 12 volts positive goes into the connection where the ballast is connected together. One ballast has approximately .5 ohms and the other is approximately 1.5 ohms. The engine starts on the .5 ohms when the ignition switch is...

    Ballast

I agree with 71 dart and the ballast "limits" current draw because the voltage drops when the starter pulls heavy current when starting. The ballast resister actually drops voltage across it and helps keep the voltage up when the ignition coli field collapses and produces the spark-producing a...

    Portable heaters.

I think the infrared heaters (120V) are the way to go because they are economical; fairly cheap (if you find them on sale, and they don't emit fumes that could irritate you plus damage paint. The casing on the heaters does not get hot so fires and blistered paint, etc. should not be an issue...

    Distributor timing

Another sure way is remove valve cover on #1 cylinder, spin the engine over in the correct rotation, and watch for the intake valve open and when it closes look at the TDC mark on the balancer ad set to 0 degrees. Install the distributor so that the rotor button points to exactly#1 cylinder in...

    Lost Musician

A local musician was contacted by the local funeral director to see if the musician would play for a homeless man that had died in town. He was to be given a "paupers funeral" and would be buried out of town in a wooded area. The musician was given location and the time and the musician was not...

    Radiator question

The people that suggested using a non-contact thermometer I think are correct. You should use it too also check the water temp coming out of the engine and see if it is close to the opening temp of the thermostat. It may reach a few degrees (up to 10 or so) until it opens and the temp levels...

    electrical motor wizards

You can check the resistance on x100 and let the meter slowly raise on the scale and then reverse the leads and see if it pegs in the other direction quickly. This is not a true test but will give you an idea if it doesn't respond. The meter actiually puts a charge into the capacitor and then...

I'm considering a new hand gun... HELP!

I have several handguns and owned many, but my favorite is a Sig Sauer model P229 in 40 caliber S&W. It's very accurate, smooth trigger, single/double action without modifications. I use it for renewing my CWP Licenses. Very pleased and I suggest you try a handgun before buying to make sure it...
