    I took the cover off of my A833 because it wouldn't shift. I found a broken shift fork. But aren't there also supposed to be detent balls between the shift lever cams and the pin cylinder? I couldn't find them anywhere. Could these missing parts have been behind difficult shifting that...

    Yes - the newer bulbs are too short and don't press in tightly enough. I wonder if the solution is to find a new but different part number bulb that is longer. I don't know about replacing the housing because I was converting from a 70 grille so I didn't have the original Sharktooth sockets...

    For my Sharktooth grille, I went with Dorman 85822 sockets recommended in a previous post on this forum. They aren't a perfect solution - the bulbs ride loosely in the socket - but I've managed to get them to work. If nothing else, they're a cheap solution...
