It'll be a car driven mainly on the street, but I would like to try racing on a small scale. It's not going to live at the strip or the road.

Without pictures it can be hard to judge, but based on your info there... both of the sound like steals. It's rare to come across those with less than 100k miles, and if you do people want ~15-20k for them. It does depend on the actual condition of the motor, hopefully accurate maintenance...

So what do you end up with using that same crank in a 340 block? How do people get up to 416 and is that the biggest ci size that can be made using an LA SB?

Firstly I think the hijacking is a non-issue, what I gathered is OP wad just playing around. To the important part; judging from your word choice you are of the opinion that W-2's should outperform X's. If you could elaborate on this and just lay down some knowledge I would greatly appreciate it.
