Really, 15 seconds isn't slow at all. Anything under 14 seconds is FAST. Quick enough to get you in trouble. A stock non-turbo Stealth was 15 seconds. I owned one and it was a very quick car, though it was more road race type fun than drag race. I wouldn't feel bad about a 15 second truck at all.

I had put on in a 66 F100 I used to have. Easy to install. I did start faster, not that it was that hard to start before. I have found it to be useful on tractors that see a lot of use as the points you get these days are junk for the most part.

On mine, I think it always is showing a slight charge. Like you said, the ignition system alone tends to draw a good amount of voltage.

There are only a few electric fans worth it. Of course the motorcraft taurus fans are well known. That being said, the clutch fans are usually worry free.

Have you tried requesting a record search? Some states dispose of them after a time though. However, license plate registrations may be available via microfiche from your state library. Searching through it on the other hand... yeesh. Still that might get you to your vin. Even better though is...

My trailer plates always take a load of abuse. I actually move mine to the back of the trailer. There's not room for a light back there but haven't had any problems from the law yet. I got tired of losing plates. However, those bolts could work!
