You could mark it around more the same way you have been, then unhook your vacuum hose from the distrubitor and put your timming light on it and bring the RPM's up to see what the timming goes to. Like said I wouldn't want it up more than about 38 maybe 40.

Going to the track and having fun, It doesn't get any better that that.

I'm not sure I would go along with that, If this was true I think the ProStock trucks would have used them, Instead they used air ducts that came in through the grille. It's hard for me to understand how air coming in through the back of the hood and turning around to the carb is better than...
