**Almost Died Today, No Joke**

-
I live in a small town and in our neighborhood our speed limit is 25 mph,I walk my dog and visit neighbors by walking the street...Any cars come ,I walk toward the ditch.
One neighbor years ago would go 50mph plus down our street,We do have children all over the neighborhood not playing in the streets but walking to friends...
One day here comes that guy hauling you know what...I rolled a soccer ball across the street and I guess he knew that a kid would be running after that ball.
He locked up his brakes and as he passed my house he took out two mailboxes causing some serious damage to his car.
I may be a bad person for this but I do not regret it at all.Cops were called by another neighbor and he got a bunch of tickets...

Sweet- I see somebody else here thinks of shite tricks to pull when necessary. :blob:

One of my friends when I lived back in CA lived in a pretty ghetto are with a bunch of wannabe thugs for neighbors. They would go to the T intersection on his street and do burnouts till the cops came. He got sick of it so one night he goes and picks up a bunch of sand to put in the intersection. About an hour or so before they show up he spread it all out and just sat in front of his house with a six pack. A couple of them show up and park before one starts to try a 180 at the T. Sure enough he loses it and slams right into his buddies car. Cops showed up and impounded the car. Wouldn't recommend going that far but sometimes you gotta think outside the box.

My 17 year old daughter went for a walk to day with one of our dogs. She was gone for longer than normal and our other Dog was looking sad so I said to her you wanna go for a walk..... well of course she does. So I head out on the road letting her sniff around and all that stuff. I call my daughter and she is around the corner so we walk and go meet up with her and our other dog.

Walking back it started to rain a bit, this is right down the street from our house maybe 2 football fields. I had my jacket on and the hood pulled over my head. All of a sudden I hear the mash of someones gas pedal just after we got over the crest of the hill, maybe 200 feet or so. I turn around and this a..hole that lives around the corner is speeding right at us at about 70 MPH, it is a 30MPH speed limit. I see the front of the truck come over the crest about 150' from us so I raise my arms to let him know we are there. He did not see us at all until he was about 25' from us. He swerves sideways almost takes out the neighbors mail box and his front gate......... This is the closest I have ever been to getting hit by a car at a high rate of speed. My daughter was crying and very upset...........

YES, I went home got in my car and went to his house..... Pretty pissed off. This is the neighbor that always flys by my house at about 70 MPH, no joke. His truck is usually parked on the driveway and it was in the garage. Everyone here has 2.5 or 5 acres so the homes are spread apart pretty good. He answers the door and shuts it behind him and says can I help you? I almost just Cold Cocked him, he had obviously been drinking..... I let him have a verbal lashing, I could smell the booze on him. He didn't remember his car going sideways and he said he just moved over and that he did see me. Bullchittttttt, no he did not! I told him if he ever speeds down my street again I am going to throw a Brick thru his windshield and beat his azzzzz to a pulp. I usually don't get that upset but when someone messes with my Family and almost Kills them along with my Dogs, then Denies it....... Ughhhhhh

Lucky I kept some what cool,,,,, Yeah Right..... But did not go to Jail Today.
In Pa i know a guy that lives on a 1 line dirt road there is no name for the road just a NUMBER ( county line road 623) everyone has 10 acres or more woods and fields believe it or not there are trucks that haul logs and others that rock and the speed limit on this 1 lane DIRT road is 55 mph everyone that lives on this road has ask the state to post it at 25 or 35 and they won't do it

Louis I'm glad that you and your family was unhurt. I have to say that you are a good man for controlling yourself when confronting that guy. We have talked about this before and I know that you used to be as crazy as me in our younger days. It's a hard thing for me to not get in crazy mode. We really have to keep ourselves in check sometimes, because now that we have families to support we have to look at the big picture.

Just the other day while driving by myself in town some idiot cut me off, then proceeded to flip me off. I found myself following him for a distance to what ever store he was going to with the intention of leaving him KO'd in the parking lot. I had to snap out of it and let it go. 15 years ago it would have been worth it, but there is too much to lose now. Someone has to take care of that pretty wife and daughter.

You did well by not hitting him. If you had, you would have gone from being right, to being wrong. If anything comes up between you guys in the future, and it goes to court, you can bet the fact that you stuck him at one point would come up again and bite you on the ***. Maybe even lose the case for you. Striking someone like that in a fit of anger is simply stupid. Defending yourself is a completely different story. Had he tried to hit you first, then all bets are off, but you're still better off letting the police handle it.

Where I think you went wrong was in not reporting it to the police. Even if nothing became of it, you would have established a base line. I do believe he would have been arrested for DUI (or DWI, whichever). That would have cost him a day in jail, a fine, a suspension of his license, and an increase in his insurance premiums. A phone call, and an hour of your time would have given him the gift that keeps on giving.

just my 2¢

Yeah it is hard when things happen sometimes to snap out of it. These are test to remind us to keep ourselves in check which in cases like this is a tough to do.

When I got home after us almost being hit, my daughter started telling my wife the story about the neighbor and I just said I'll be back and walked out to my car. My wife knows how I am and did not say a word to me cause she knows it will not do any good.

I had a vision of the guy laying KO'd on his porch as we walked home until I got into my car. He lives about a 1/4 mile around the corner so I had a little time to calm down. Whats weird is I am never out there and the only reason I was is to make sure my daughter was ok because she was gone longer than normal. I do believe if I was not there doing jumping jacks so the guy would see us, he would for sure have hit my daughter. She had her Ear Buds in listening to Music until she seen me and popped them out cause we started talking. One good thing about being a gear head is we know the sound of a cracked wide open throttle and can hear it from a long way's off.

This guy has been driving like that since he moved into the neighborhood. I told my wife 5 years ago that he is going to kill someone, I did not think it would almost be us.

Most definitely now if I see him driving like that he will be Video'd and I will call the police.

On another story kind of like yours. My brother's sister inlaw got cut off a few years back and she flipped out on the guy flipping him off etc. The light ahead turns Red and she did not think anymore about it. The guy got out of the his car pulled her out her seat wacking her head all over the window frame and was teeing off on her head at the same time the only thing keeping her in the car was her seat belt................. Damn she got her azzz kicked really good on that one, No witnesses and nobody went to Jail. She did however need to go to the hospital and she has scars to this day because of it........ She was one of those loud mouth women that is good looking and thought she can could do anything and get away with it, not anymore though since that day.

OK, rumbles on duty, calm down, or leave the thread or just plain ol'go away and relax. Lets stop the silly postings and enjoy the rest of the day here.
Well Ole rumbles,I agree ButIt sounds like someone on here needs an old fashion *** kicking thats all Im saying............Artie:violent1::violent1::burnout::evil1:

I would have called the police. You might have saved someone's life. Obviously maybe your own or a loved one. That really had to suck. Glad yall are ok.

I would have stuffed the S.O.B in his own mail box after that. Some kid in a gas powered golf cart used to fly down my one way road and slam on his brakes towards the bottom so he'd slide around and go the other way, one day I tossed out a handful of wood screws (I live at the bottom of the road last house) he hit em' blew 2 tires, and ditched the thing. Putted back out and he hasn't been down the road since. Would not recomment this method either, big difference between golf cart and vehicle.

Dang! Sorry to here that Louis. Good to here you both are ok and no one was hurt. You should of bashed his head in but may be better that you did not.

Sounds like my neighbors. We have several high powered drag quads (12 seconds) and we use OUR driveway to practice launches and we coast on OUR rite away (10-20 mph at most), so that we aren't locking up the brakes. Never fails after 3-4 launches our drunk *** neighbor would show up and would come out bitching and hollering at us all the time no big deal he knew not to go onto the road (guess he wasn't so dumb in that perspective). one day though that dumb *** came flying up the driveway when my brother was turning around and purposely hit him like ran into him, now tell me would it have been right to sock his you know what (not saying if I did or not)

OwdKasd, maybe you should read your laws for North Carolina.

http://www.ncdot.gov/bikeped/download/bikeped_laws_Ped_Laws.pdf
sorry, but doesn't that sort of go along with exactly what he said?

"when walking along or upon a highway, a pedestrian has a statutory duty to yield the right of way to all vehicles on the roadway. It is the duty of pedestrians to look before starting across a highway, and in the exercise of reasonable care for their own safety, to keep a timely lookout for approaching motor vehicle traffic. On roadways where there is no sidewalk, pedestrians should always walk facing traffic."

edit- oops, I'm also guilty of not looking at dates on the thread lol:D

i live in rural area. USED to be dopeheads and drug sellers would meet up about dusk, on our country gravel road, till the neighbor started firing a few rounds their way from few hundred yards away. he wasn't trying to hit anything..... I guess they found a quieter road?????
