So my buddy Justin said "hey bring your car over so we can do the disc brake swap". that turned into "while were here lets pull the fenders and fix the rust".

No major suprises on the driver side.

The passenger side has some rust in the lower corner. both sides have rust in the upper fender area.

Earlier that day Justin says "hey theres a big bolt pattern 7.25 on craigslist for cheap". Not a bad deal for $75 till i can get my 8.75 done.
End of day one.

Then I was talking to a co worker about replacing my passenger quarter skin and he says "so what color we painting it and hey you should pull that \6 out so we can do the engine compartment." So im going to finish up the wheel wells then install the disc brakes so that I can roll the car back and pull the motor. going to sand and paint the engine compartment and repaint the old 225 and reinstall till I can get my 360/727 finished. Im leaning torwards the shade of silver ellenor from gone in 60 seconds was painted but with a satin black hood and slotted mags.

The patch roughed in.

Eleanor was/is painted Ash Pepper Gray with Black racing stripes. DuPont makes the paint color your looking for.

Thanks for looking guys. My second color choice is the blue on speedracerx dart. Is that b7?

I always seem to get those two mixed up.

Hey it happens LOL .. if you check out my build thread for my Dart, I painted the dash and inner doors etc, B7 blue.. I have seen plenty of B7 blue Darts and whatnot and its a sharp color as well.. for me though, the B5 just seems to pop more.. (For the record, the first two choices for colors on my Dart were, sunfire yellow with a black top, black interior, and black tail stripe..(the wife hated that idea) .. then went to plum crazy purple, white interior, white top, and white stripe.. almost went this route, but after some thought and research I came to the conclusion that this particular color combo would look best on a 70-72 Dart body style... So.. since the interior of my car was already blue (the car was originally B3 blue, a shade Im not all that fond of) and I really did like B5 blue.. thats color choice that won out LOL ...

So my auto body buddy (ford guy) told me if i painted it du pont 44490 he would make me a decal that says "when I grow up I want to be a ford" so now im looking at dodge colors and im thinking 2012 dodge dark slate grey metallic. I looked all alot of dodge greys going all the way back to the 50's. I just wish the 1963 "valiant buffed grey" was darker. I think a darker grey would look sharp with the black interior and crome trim and help hide that roof line. My buddy Justin flips me alot of **** over the post but I like it.

Paint it whatever color you want and don't sweat what other people say. It's your car and unless he's going to pay for the materials/labor....only valid opinions or advice are necessary.

day 7

slant six is out and the firewall stripped down and started block sanding.

The caliper clips knocked all the new weights off the rims. 14" are a bit too close. they will get rebalanced but the weights will have to be in further.

Keep the metal flying, Looks like you have been busy and getting allot dun
Subscribed ! Keep up the good work
one day soon I hope to upgrade to disk breaks on my 66 Plymouth.

As an industrial mechanic that works 12 hours a day but I get half the week off I spend 6-8 hours on my car on my days off. Memike I had a 64 barracuda and there not the easiest to work on but I do miss that car. I kept my 360/727, aluminum radiator, b&m hammer shifter for this car. I've also got a 69 8.75 with a 489 sg for this one but all in good time.

Here is how she looks after sanding out the highs and runs of the POR15. Ive got a bit more sanding still to do.

Your doing a great job! It,s always nice to have a helper.Good luck with the rest of your build.

Wish I had buddies like that. Some amazing rust-thru fixes. One thing led to another for me as well, but smartest to fix things when they are accessible.

Good Job!! The fire wall looks great!! Having a friend that can help you is a big plus ..
