My Valiant's engine is officially toasted(kinda, couple bent rods, a trashed oil pump, and an almost non functional distributor, AND IT STILL RUNS!!), so I need to find another one. Anyone have one they'd be willing to give away or sell? I'm looking for runners obviously, if it is low mile or recently rebuilt that sweetens the deal. We can pay, just PM for an arrangement.

Thanks,

Josh

I've got a 69 /6 that was recently rebuilt along with the also recently rebuilt 904 trans and convertor. PM me if you're interested.

I understand. We can meet you in Delaware to save some time and gas but most likely will still be a 6 hour ride one way.

If it comes to that, I'm sure that we can work something out.

Got one too, rebuilt 74 225.Complete carb to pan with early carter BBS. Way to far though.

I guess Cali is too far too....Bent connector rods and still kicking? WTF did you do to this motor?

Do you do know the crank register changed in 1968 so the year your tranny might make a difference on what motor you need?

Sent you a PM. Have a good running 225 slant six, in Florida. I am going to pigeon Forge, Tn the weekend of Feb 22, 23, 24th. I will be meeting a friend from Blacksburg, Va. He is buying some parts from me, and might be willing to transport the engine up to Va. for a few dollars. If I remember correctly, the engine is a 71. It will need a new pan gasket, as I have to remove the 64 oil pan that is on it now. I had lent the engine to a customer with a 64 Valiant, while I built his 170. The engine will have the correct oil pan with it, but no intake or exhaust manifolds. $150.00. Need to know this week, if you are interested, so I can check with my friend, and see if he is willing, to transport. Also need time to load my truck.

A really bad overheat and a foolish attempt to drive it home afterwards with almost zero cooling and probably oil too.

It's a 69 transmission, I think.

Someone needs to verify this. The 67 back has a smaller crank register than the 68 up so the snout on the torque convertor will not go in to the 67 engine. The 69 torque convertor won't go in to the 67 transmission. This is accurate for the V8s and from what I have read it is the same one the /6 engines too.

I have a complete 225 with 904 have no use 67000 miles they are a pair from 73 dart i am in southern ohio

Is there a way I can verify this without actually looking at the crank register? Casting numbers?

I did a rebuild on an early 67 Barracuda 273/904 and the convertor nose/crank register was the smaller, early design. Not realizing that this 67 application had the early design, I bought a convertor from Mancini and it was different. I'm not sure if this was because of the early build date though.

I have managed to find a forklift engine local that a guy will do a freshen up and an install on, so I think I'll go with that. Thanks everyone for the offers though, if I ever need anything, FABO will be my first go-to option.

Ok..I JUST WENT THROUGH THIS!
67 and down: small crank register hole, "small snout" converter.
68 and up: large crank register hole and "large snout" converter

The newer "large snout" converter will NEVER go into the 67 down small hole crank, so you cannot use a new transmission on an old motor without changing the crank.

The 67 "small snout" transmission will fit right into the big hole on the 68 up cranks, but it will slop around and destroy the transmission front pump. Many people (including Charrlie on this site) sell an aluminum bushing that will allow you to put the old trans into the new motor.

BTW, forget swapping converters too! The 67-68 904 main shaft changed!

:(
