Has anyone ever bought one of Summit Racing's rebuilt Thermoquads and if so were you happy with it?

i just saw those! i thought you couldn't get those carbs anymore.

You can also buy remanufactured TQ's at O'riellys and at Rock Auto. Rock Auto has the best price and I am thinking of buying one but would like to hear from someone who has bought one of these and what performance they got.

I'd like to hear from someone too. Plan to convert my Leanburn 'Doba and use one of the reman TQ carbs.

Yes the summit thermoquads are just remand by Holley. Ive heard a few people that had ok luck with them but they had some mismatched parts inside, Wrong jets etc.

I wonder if they use new plastic resin main bodies? I always thought that was the snag on rebuilding them....that those warp.

mainbodys for thermoquads are available as new replecement parts..

what gets me is when you look up the details on summits site they say there square bore carbs.

Funny you mention that.....I was looking at these at Summit and they mention "square bore" AND "spreadbore". These sure look like repop Thermoquads, don't they? But only 625 CFM...? Has anyone seen these up close or have any knowledge of them?

You can modify the lean burn TQ for a vacuum advance hose hook up to use with a regular distributor. Contact Demonszzler, a member here.

Those are not TQ's! DANG! Look at the freaking thing all ready for GODS sake!
There a new Demon carb release!

FUUCJHIKOP BY*(@^T&*)#T &*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those Demons dont have the rod hanger of the old TQ's that helped in dialing in idle quality. Otherwise, an old new approach in carburetion. Wonder if they will issue a larger model? And it is technically a 3 barrel. Here is the Summit "square bore" Chrysler reman TQ pic

I had a link up a while ago for reman TQ's for $99 bucks! About 2 years ago, place had 20 of them in plastic from Carter...NOS stuff. Long gone.

The Street Demons are metered in the primaries with two vacuum pistons, like other Carter/ Edelbrock models.

They actually really helped the idle circuit with a small air bleed at the front of the primary ports that brings the mixture at the front of the throttle plates toward the center.

They are also a square bore carb, so the fuel mapping in the manifold is more central, especially at idle and cruising, with the small air bleeds at the front. You have to run their base gaskets and plate to keep it working properly that they supply.

They have a larger, 750 wet CFM model-

You might think me crazy but I bought the composite body Street Demon a year ago to put on my magnum crate 360/320 with a 2 plane M1. Yep, call me crazy. Replaced a Holley 750dp that was running ok after a rebuild but it's a 727 car and wanted to put vacuum secondary's back on it, so I took the chance. I took the chance after reading all I could about it and looking for all the intell that was out there. Heck, I didn't want to spend nearly $400 smacks on a carb that didn't give me what I wanted, especially a first year unproven model. What really sold me was that even for a flow of 625cfm, the carb had enough flow to dyno out a big block at 425hp which told me it would have plenty of flow potential for my unmassaged cast iron magnum heads with long tube headers.
I'm not a big fan of Edelbrock Carbs, mostly because the few I've been associated with in the past just didn't have the greatest response when you mashed the pedal and lord knows we love to mash the pedal. Nonetheless I was also concerned that the Demon was just another Eddy and I'd be stuck with a paperweight when I was done. Holy cow did I make a great choice. I absolutely love it. Easy tunability, idle control, smooth quick throttle response and "ohhh my God" pedal mashing kickdown launch.
I'm going to try an Eddy RPM air gap next just for fun. Happen to have one on the shelf here.
