'100' Fastest Mopars 1962 thru 1971

im amazed at the people busting this guys chops and looking for sources but i dont see any sources that discredit the numbers. as far as i can remember you yelling hes wrong neither makes you wrong or right, site a source prove him wrong or leave the guy alone. this is starting to look like a freaking Corvette meeting

Rather than fighting, I would like to know if that car still exists or has it been chopped up for parts ? I hate to see key cars disappear.

Ian.

Grassy,

Some history on Bud Faubel's 1964 Dodge #330 'Race Hemi'.

At the end of the 1964 Racing Season {December 1964} Bud put the Dodge up for sale.

Doc Burgess {from up my way in New York} wanted to buy it from Bud. But, Bud sold it
to another upstate New York Racer {Bob Goss} for $3500 instead.

Bob Goss only 'raced' it sporadically for a few years in S/SA {1965 and 1966}. Then raced
it only a few times in SS/AA {1967}, and SS/BA {1968} before putting the Dodge in his garage.

Eventually the Dodge disappeared to parts unknown.

Sometime around 1985, car collector Steve Banker of Arizona found it in the Midwest. He bought it
and restored to its original 'factory' condition.

In 2001, Steve Banker liquidated his car Collection, and Don Fezell of western Pennsylvania bought it,
and is the current owner {last time I checked}.

Crap.

Another cool car disappearing into someone's garage never to be seen again until it is auctioned off for a silly by the relatives.

These cars are meant to be seen and enjoyed..maybe even run down the track occasionally..

Thanks. I too enjoy what you post. I m relatively new to MOPAR so I am interested. Keep up the great work.

Ian.

#12 and #13 are listed as having 426 engines but they are not hemis they were the stageII and or stage III super stock engines. I am sure it was just an oversite on the readers part.

great job, interesting to compare.

well old buddy you did it again!!:cheers:you cried to the cops (must have been pretty good to)so bad that you got me a warning????ha,,not that you're that important to me OR ANYONE else I believe along with a lot of others ANYTHING you say YOU or ANYbody else is not worth getting in trouble over!!!!!!!!!!!so now you can make me look like another ***. Again!!!.and with that being said I have given THE RELE way to tell a super stock car (in 64 or 65 or 66 and i'm sure 67)from a long distance to a real friend..that will give you my answer when the or he thinks the time is right!!!!!!!!! so now you can bull sh!! on and won't have to be challenged to the truth!!!!!!!!

and as far as what your saying about the 340s well I hate to tell ya but that's bullsh!! tttttt oooooooooo and he will also fill you in on that when the time comes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SEE YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I happen to like this thread, its very educational about mopars, for those who posted the info. us dorks THANK YOU lol as for the name calling what age are we ?

God-Father-of-Chrysler

I don't file complaints with the FABO Moderator, just ask them.

I have an 'open forum' here. If you want to debate me 'fine'.

If I'm wrong, I will acknowledge it, and correct the error.

If you're going to tell me a 1968 340 Barracuda ~ 4-Speed with 4.10 Gears
and 8.00 x 14" Slicks with a 'Hurst Shifter' couldn't run 13.95's.

Then I have to call you 'a foolish man'.

67 Dart,

It's not my fault you 'can't comprehend'.

I listed the 1962 - 413 and 1963 - 426 cars.........

Is there something wrong with you..........

Look at the 'List' with your eyes open.

I guess you didn't read the rules about personal attacks. At the time I posted, you had mentioned nothing about the early cars, which means you went back and edited.

I'm done with you forever. I've owned my share of Mopars in my life, I have nothing to prove to YOU, and if you interpret this as "screw off" then you pretty much assumed correctly............for a change

Knock it OFF...........Please

If you're not interested in the info posted, move along. If you have a question about the info posted, try posting it as a question.....

69 Cuda 440.......name calling and snide remarks aren't helping your cause one bit :-k

There are many knowledgeable members here that have interest in your threads, but your posting style could use a bit of polishing IMO

Grassy,

You'll enjoy this.

Here is Bud Faubel at our Track {Dover Drag Strip - Wingdale, New York}
during the Fall of 1964 {A cold 'nippy' fall day in Dutchess County, New York}

The 'Hemi Honker' ran 10.80's in 'Match Race Trim'

If you only had $3500.............

OK, I am dating myself. In '64 I was 5. Were you at this race ?
That is a cool picture...and what fascinates me is how the races were staged then and now. Unfortunately, most of our strips are gone now.

Thanks for posting.
Ian.

Ian,

That was before my time. But one of my Father's Racing Buddies was there.

When Bud Faubel ran 'The Hemi Honker' at NHRA Regional Meets and National Events,
he ran the 1964 Dodge Race Hemi in S/SA {in legal Super/Stock trim}, with 7" Wide Slicks.

For 'Match Race Events', they put on a 'fiberglass nose' and swapped in a
'tricked-up' 426 Race Hemi engine, and utilized 10" Wide Slicks.

If you look close in the photo, they even shifted the Front wheels forward for
Match Racing.

Crumbs, you are right. I think I missed a lot growing up in the 70's..

Regarding the 1966 Dodge D-Dart {273/275 HP}

When they left the 'Factory', they were equipped with the 'Freak Show'
Inland Shifter.

The D-Dart that Car Craft tested out in California, was equipped with the
Inland Shifter, but the Engine was not 'dialed-in'.

Most of the Dealer/Owners were able to post 13.65's @ 103 MPH, with a Hurst
Shifter and properly set up Holley 700 CFM Carburetor and Ignition components,
and with the 4.86 Gears they left the factory with.

Ralph Costa's "The Politician" was a fully set-up D-Dart.
