Been battling pain in my hips for 5 years. My old Dr told me to do stretches and yoga. All that did was hurt like a *****.
Went to a new Dr. and he sent me in for X-rays. Called me at 7:30PM at home and said you need to get right in and see me. Went in 2 days later and he says, Your left hip is JUNK and your right hip is bad. Sent me to Orthopedic Surgeon, get Left hip replace on 3-30 Right on 4-17.
Dr.'s are NOT ALWAYS RIGHT. Could have had Left done 5 years ago.

I am not a very nice person when I am in pain! Glad my wife is still here.

Good luck with the surgeries. My Dad had his replaced about 20 years ago, and he was very happy with it. They've come a long way since then, so you should really be good.
I've been having trouble with my hands. Dr. sent me in for x-rays. Arthur in both hands, but mostly in the right. 45 years of cutting meat for a living is taking it's toll. I tell everyone that getting old is not for the weak. You gotta be tough to get old!! 62 in a few months.

Sounds like you are going to have some physical therapy in your future. Sorry to hear but its seems we all will need some replacements in time. When I built our house an old man in the neighborhood stopped by and told me not to ever get old. He said old age comes with company and its not always pleasant. As I get older I understand what he meant! Every day is a new ache or pain.

Now adays surgery takes 2-3 hours......stay in the horse piddle for a day maybe two but
they have you up on your feet and walking before they let you go home.
Minimal PT.

Yep, the technology is that good.

Had knee replacement 2 years ago. They had me up and walking before the medication was fully off.Spent 2 days in Hospital and 4 weeks PT.Talked to a guy in PT that had both knee's and one hip done and said the hip was a piece of cake compared to the knee's. Good luck and take the PT seriously and you will be fine. Just wish it was that easy to take care of the osteoarthritis in my back...Tired of how the oxycodone makes me feel.

Feel your pain brother. Have it in both hands. I work on my GTS resto for several hours and I'm done. Surgery is probably in my future.

Had a left knee total replace a few years ago. Had it done in early January and was back bowling in early April.
As others have said, take the PT seriously and do EVERYTHING they tell you to do. Not more, but certainly not less. Only thing that's still a bummer is I can't kneel on it, run or jump. Not being able to kneel makes it a real ***** trying to get back standing after working under my Dart.

Dr. Mesko said surgery takes bout an hour. He does 7-8 a day. 20-24 week. He has a whole wing at the hospital. Dude is a machine. They kick me out of the hospital the next day. Told me I can do stairs when I get home. Will see.

they had me up and walking two hrs after I was back in my room, the first walk did not go well but it got better every day, the thing to remember is the pain you had does not compare to slight pain you have after the surgery and each day you will get better, yes the oxycodone sucks some day I feel like I take them like tic-tac's .

good luck bro it will be better after the surgery.

I was hit head on by an 80 mph drunk in '72. shattered my left kneecap and cut the tendons into. I know one leg is slightly shorter. I have no real pain, but I have NO strength in my legs. I can hardly get back up after getting under my cars. is this a sign of bad joints. looks like if so, they would hurt!
only problem I have is ( according to doc), a piece of cartlidge will come loose in the joint. then I can hardly stand or walk for 5 minutes or maybe 2 days. seldom happens.

I have no desire for joint replacement till I have no other choice!

Being in Orthopedics you will wish you got it done years ago. surgery pain aint close to the pain you have been going through. As for P T for a hip replacement ...not near as much as a knee..walk lots and you will want ..and don't get in any bad/awkward positins especially for 3 months post op. good luck and all the best

Not sending me to PT. I will be doing it on my own. Need to find out what not to do. DR said not cutting fire wood for 6 months. M W F Total Gym and free weights. T TH Pool. SA SU IDK.
Hopefully I can work on the Dart a little. Need to get the cage in and the floors and interior painted.

My mom will be getting her hip done soon. Her sister had it done on Friday and is doing well. Best of luck buddy.

Has been working its way into my joints ever since being tossed out of the USPS. Not even 50 yet and I have it damn near everywhere. At least I don't have to put up with the crap that my wife does, psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalga and this nasty *** disaster...

Got the left side done on the 30th. So far I am battling swelling, my leg all way down to my foot is quite large. Been icing and that is helping. My real battle is that I have to sleep on my back and it is not happy. Bout 4 hours of sleep at a time and I feel like crap. The only pain killer is Tylenol 3 and it barely helps. Today is the first day I could sit in a regular chair at my computer

I know where you are at and I hope in the near future you will be glad this is dun and behind you Joe, I have had a couple surgeries on my shoulders and they wanted to do my neck and I said no, two day a week of two hours worth of therapy is keeping me out of the O.R room.
I sleep about 4 to 5 hours a night, have been for a few years now, only way I sleep longer is to use up energy and that does not happen much threw the winter, now I will do more walking hunting sheds (dear antlers) and fish and piddle with my 66 plymouth a little at a time.

Hope all heals up good and you have a good therapist :glasses7:

I know 2 people that had knee replacement, infection set in, the artificial joint was removed, t hey finally killed the infection and put replacement joint BACK in!!! wow!!

If anybody want some first hand info on arthritis treatment with a CURE, do a search on the arthritis clinic in Mexicali (or Talexico? Something like that)Mexico. My dad found out about it and had very positive success. It's cheap. And successful. Not available in the US.

A family friend had arthritis so bad, couldn't get out of bed, it was that serious. Lost his job, doctors couldn't help him. He went to the clinic in Mexico and has had almost complete recovery, back to work and everything. Again, CHEAP treatment (they give you a prescription you can only get filled at the clinic) but not available in the US

i had my left knee replaced 1.5 years ago and im glad i did because i was at a point where i could not walk or work at all. I to am a( 300/800 woohooo lol )right handed bowler and was a big change because i had to change my bowling style years ago to accommodate the stress on the left (bad) knee.

i have a hard time still kneeling on the soft bed so you think getting up is hard with one knee done imagine that its almost impossible with both knees done
