I used to hate vinyl tops, but they seem to have really grown on me.

I vote to put the vinyl top on. I love the look of them! My Dart had its vinyl top for 39 years with no rust underneath and only minor rust on the drip rails. It was just cracking in some spots because of the sun and its age. Vinyl tops are awesome!

My 72 Challenger was getting in sad shape in the mid late 80's and I used Vaseline on the top to make it shine.

It looked great for my photo shoot, but made one hell of a mess when it got wet..... LOL

Come to think of it, think I coated the whole car

This was the day it did it so it would look good in the picture. It need restored so wasn't hurting anything.

By the time I sold it it was rusted too much for me to spend the money to restore, then the E bodies went thru the ROOF after I sold it. Need both rear frame rails, wheel houses, 1/4 on left part on right, trunk floor, drivers side pan rust in firewall, radiator support & a pillar.

The guy I sold it to was going to fix it, never seen it again after I sold it.

Was a factory 340 3 speed manual, had Hemi 4 speed in it when I sold it

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND VASELINE to treat vinyl top unless it is really bad and you want it to look good one more time

Love the look.....better on a mopar than anything else.

I used to hate vinyl tops. The first time I tried to do repair work on a car that had one I found a ton of rust beneath it. I'd thought of them as a fancy car option and didn't care for that theme. - But over time I've begun to view them as a piece of history. It was a fad from almost 50 years ago and I've now got a new appreciation for them. It's a matter of personal preference but I'd say GO FOR IT if you want it.

:wack:

they look ok on all these cars in the pics. but not on a 67-8-9 "fastback" ! they just don`t look right on fastbacks . I wouldn't even consider it. ever seen a s/s a hr with one ? the A hemi cars are what made the fastbacks famous. jmo---bob

All your cars look really cool with the black vinyl tops!! Its nice to be different and joining the different crowd, Plus my Vinyl top somehow is in perfect condition!!! not a tear or scratch.. I think the car was garage kept...Remove the trim and paint it with the top on. Why not if the Top is A 1 condition... I like the B5 Metallic and my interior is Blue

I've never had anything but compliments on my vinyl top. I've seen the bottom side too. Solid as the day it rolled off the factory floor.

There's something about Brian's car that looks like the car is wearing a tuxedo. Black on black. It's got sort of a James Bond coolness to it.

Thanks guys! Unfortunately it's still sitting in the garage waiting for the engine to be finished at the machine shop. Hopefully it'll be back on the road this summer with an engine that matches it's looks!
