New High In Pain Level - Gout

-
Yes, I take it with food, it makes me so sick I have threw up lunch about 1/2 hour later.
The bright side is diet makes mine controllable, so I only have to take the green pill for a couple of days a year.
My prescription is from 6/11/2014 and there is still 3 pills left.

yeah doc said take 2 per day when attack begins. Should shorten duration. Then 1 pill per day for 3 days and off them again. I had cleared the last attack and took a final single pill on Monday past. Thursday I noticed big toe starting to hurt again. Friday eve knuckle at wedding band starts. At this minute a good portion of left hand, fat baby describes how it looks.

What are you eating?
Lots of fruit and vegetables keep mine kinda under control.

A lot more chicken and fish does hit the table these days. Haven't been able to leave beef and pork completely. Only fruit I eat is blueberries and figs. I do like cherries but rarely get them. Same can be said for beets and other veggies I like.
I'm not the cook here. If she puts cube steak and pork chop value packs on the shopping list, I pick them up. Not laying blame on the wife. We both have compromised during the past year. Changes made didn't meet the mark

I feel for everybody that has to go thru this, a co-worker has gout and kidney stones, he said he would take a kidney stone any day over the gout.

I have never had a stone, but I can honestly say I would too.

Gout flat out hurts!!! It's exreeeemely painfull. I was shot years ago, and that paled in comparison to gout!

I got the Colchicine too, damn expensive little pill at 6 bucks a pop.

I have suffered from gout for a lot of years now.
All i do now is take an Allopurinol pill every day (cheap) and i haven't had it for about 4 years now.
When i first started on it, and if i forgot to take it for 2 days in a row, i would get gout again and it would take days to get relief again until the pill overcame the uric acid crystals built up in my joints, specifically my two big toes.
I learned the hard way to make sure i take it daily around the same time.
I have had no side effects from taking Allopurinol.
My big triggers were tomatoes, beef steaks, shellfish, and acidic fruit juices.
I still consume these, but not any more than weekly for each of them and it works for me.

i too suffer gout but not since taking Allopurinoll as above

That is a step in the right direction, limit red meat to special occasions,
As for fruit, have momma pick up some oranges or bananas, have them with breakfast.
Diet will take several months if not years to manage.
Greasy food (french fries or anything fried). Seriously jacks me up bad.

Yup, passed two stones this summer, on two separate occasions . Morphine is 20 minutes away. Might as well have been 200 cuz that's what it felt like. Got 3 or 4stones left in there says the ER.Why do they call them stones? I mean stones are little pebbles right? Kidney stones are anything but little stones. It's a concretion. A 5mm non-round hunk of concrete with about 17 million very sharp things sticking out of it, that when it passes from the kidney to the bladder, might as well be satans fist!
Gout too. But a qt of BlackCherry Juice per week seems to be keeping it away. Also reduced my intake of red meats, and YUCK started eating more salads and soups, plus a lot less sitting, with my feet flat on the floor. And worst of all drinking more water/less pop.

A good acupuncturist should be able to greatly reduce the pain!! I've had excruciating/debilitating pain that was completely stopped by acupuncture. Hope you "all" get better.

You're lucky , I've had acupuncture on 12 occasions , only thing it did for me is make me look like a porcupine . I tried 3 different acupuncturists , they were not fly by night , referred by my neurosurgeon and a pain specialist , just did nothing . Of course I'm a complicated case , lots of spine , nerve and other damage .
