Better late then never, it has happened in my family. But yeah agree with ya.

Be thankful your family gets together. Ours doesn't, and it's just another day here.

Merry Christmas. Several schools of thought on this one. Overlook it, forgive her and be happy they came at all and are alive and well. Let her know how it affected you, and how you feel about it. Learn from it, and never ask them to be responsible for something that will make or break your plans again. Grind them about it with subtle passive aggressive behavior from now on. Rent your place out for a month on Airbnb and take a month long vacation in another part of the world during this time. Be sure to send a card. Expect that type of behavior from them and have a delicious plan B ready, start dinner on time, enjoy it with whoever showed up on time and freeze what ever they finally brought, so they can take it home with them. etc

Don't let them carry any of the critical supplies for the party, then you can start without them when they are late.... :color:

You have to plan around them if they are always late... Tell them that the party starts 1-2 hours earlier than it does, so they will show up late on time.... :glasses7:

My brother is always late, we make a game out of it and throw in a few bucks and pick squares for how late he's going to be... :evil3:

I once missed winning the pot by 5 minutes.... :banghead:

probably a billion people late for something at any given moment. I wasn't late, but I had an unfair advantage...I live here.

I had an aunt ( one of a half doz), but she was always late for everything. had a buddy that would get up at 4:30 a m and then piddle around and wait till the very last second to get ready f or work! ha

some peole like t make an "entrance", be the center of attention.

like he said, don't relay on people if you know you can't rely on them. me, I would start dinner on time, and set their's aside for them when they arrive. then you can visit with them as they eat.

Yes, the old Christmas **** shows........
This year, we were going to go to the sister in law's place, but she got into a mood last Sunday and called it all off. She even threw the frozen turkey at her daughter across the room and took down her tree and decorations. Then she proceeded to post a lot of crap on facebook to all of her friends and relatives as well as call everyone she knew that night to basically say ''f'' off and leave her alone.
Then on Wednesday, she got her husband to put the tree back up and decorate the house again, and Christmas dinner etc, are back on.
She called us up and re-invited us, and i said no, we already bought a turkey etc. and were staying home.
That was the third time this year she called Christmas off, then i told her 3 strikes and you're out. We didn't have the time to wait and see if she changed her mind again. Then it would probably be a lot of arguing at dinner anyway.
Now get this, she then called us a-holes for wrecking Christmas!
What a freaking head case psycho drama queen this year, but then again, she always has been into the drama.........
Consider yourself lucky!

a wise man once said that this is the time of year we travel 300 miles to be with people only to remember why we live 300 miles away from them to begin with

Thanks for the posts guys.....I shouldn't let it upset me like that...I'm normally a pretty mellow person....Old age has a tendency to take away your patience...We did have a great time as it always is when you can have your family together. All's well that ends well....Merry Christmas to all

Hoping she wasn't late because of an accident or some other emergency.
Just my luck to start complaining to them only to find out there was some emergency.
Instant guilt.... LOL

My family has a couple of members that are always late as well. We've learned to live with it. We never ask them to bring anything for the meal, we usually just eat without them. When they finally show up, all they get is dessert. If they're still hungry they can go to McDonald's or somewhere. We used to reheat the meal for them, but some time ago, decided not to do that anymore. They didn't like that idea much, so we suggested they be on time next time. Hasn't happened yet. So, we live with it.

It's a sore spot with me too. Showing no consideration for the others who timed their food preparation so everything would be good. Next time I would not count on her part of the meal and I would sit down to dinner on time. But you are right, it is not worth getting upset about.

Ha! my ant that was ALWAYS late to everything, her husband had passes and her twin boys were in college, .... mom would invite her for supper, ( supper, that's SOUTHERN for the evenin meal), ...... if supper was at 6 she would tell her to be there at 5:30 !!!!! but it never worked ! ha she'd get there at 6:30 !

couple of thoughts here.
...we are all late occasionally...but some are always late and that
may be control as in "nobody can do anything 'til i get there!"
