Dodge Ram death wobble recall finally

-
Mopar denies it exsists when you call but their recall mentions it as a severe problem on all Rams .

If Mopar openly admitted to a "severe steering" problem, it may open them up for liability lawsuits... :violent2:

Just checked that video above that is a ford. This is the steering bars you get from mopar for the recall but you have to pay for them. I wish mine would only have that little shake. I could deal with that.

Have you tried a dual steering stabilizer setup? Supposedly tweaking the caster can help but not 100% sure on that

Dual steering stabilizer kit

Looks like they have a steering brace as well

I have a 95 3500 cummins I bought new. the front wheel bearing went totally away at 100,000 mi. has 200,000 on it now...... the guy that fixed it said, those years ALL ate the bearings at that time! I have never experienced that wobble.

auto makers are corporations like 99% of them all , .... screw everyone and anyone, for a few more $$$$$.

New upper ball joints every year from the wobble. My son works on alot of these trucks and very few have the wobble. It only accurs over 65 at around 70 mph. When hitting a bump in a turn. Sterted at second year owning it. Route 70 in Indiana coming home from a race towing the trailer. 2 am in the morning son sleeping. Passing a truck doing around 85-90 where its 3 lanes on one side went into the wobble and took me down an embankment and into uncoming traffic on the other side. Scared the living **** out of me. Took it right to the dealer and they blamed it on balance. Been doing it since after much $$$$$$. My dualies run true and perfect

I dont know if everyone saw my post above, my 2012 Ram was recalled for front suspension issues. A BUY BACK recall. All this time and they still had not got it figured out. 2013 was a redesign of the front axle I believe. Might have been 2014.

Here's how to check if your vehicle has any recalls:

I traded it in. How crappy I had to trade in a 60k truck with only 38k miles on it because Mopar could not fix it properly. In my case it was eating front tires alive. Was on its third set of Michelin tires! 1600 a pop for six tires!

Sorry to hear your woes TIM, id be fustrated too especially when you spend 40-60k on a truck and does that. You got full coverage on it? I believe the wobble would be bad enough to mysteriously cause me to run off the road into a pond. Oops, damn you dodge for not fixing it
:eek:ops:

Then his insurance rates go up and Dodge is off the hook....

Dodge needs to be responsible for this, not the insurance companies, which will increase the rates for all of us...

Problem is dodge doesnt care, if they did they should buy them back or give you a more than fair trade in amount towards a new one, then they could use the ones they buy back as personal vehicles for all the engineers that designed the years affected lol

Just recieved my recall after complaints since 2005. You will not believe the Fix and the cost.
Ford steering in a mopar box for $400 dollars. Once you buy that they give you three nuts

Thx O,m,m < ( no 'meditation' inference implied ),

I 'WAS' headed up to buy a low Milage < 80k 2500 ---'07'--- .
Not anymore ;).

Thx again Sir

They did offer to buy mine back, court ordered! I made out ok, not great. I REALLY liked that truck.

It was always my understanding when something was a "recall" that the fix was all on the automaker. I guess I was incorrect.

I think they try that "only if its a safety concern" which death wobble certainly is. My mom has a 11' mustang and just last year got a recall notice for the airbag, letter said ford will notify you when the replacement air bag is available. Wtf? Lemme drive my presumably safe new vehicle and not have to worry about the accident killing you but the airbag. I know recalls are hard to 100% stop but i think these automakers need to crack down on it. Seems like the customer is eating it more than the dealers

Funny you mention the Ford airbag issue. There was just a guy killed on the Ranger forum I am a member of by his airbag.

Aww man sorry to hear that, frankly these recalls are pissing me off and im not even affected because both my vehicles are at least 20 years old or older.

4 year wait on the air bag. As per the recall and the compaint center. I did have a accident with mine. 5 surguries later and 10 years out of work. now spinal stenosis. Law suit still going. Att. said should settle Soon????? They took it all the way to federal court. "Me Vs. State farm/ mercedes/fiat/Ram".

Mopar is just a name not responcible. What a joke. Luckily I had assets to fall back on. but lost most of my mopars to pay bills. B-bodies went first. and some nice ones . But I have pics. kept the Duster and the Demon. Also kept all the equipment to make extra money.

Lucky I have a son staying above the shop. And friends on this site that come over to help. 10 years of pills took a toll on my heart . But I am not going anywhere until they pay me. I got one thing I am going to buy that is on my bucket list. And the spark plugs are easy to change

Good for you, glad your still toughing it out, hope you get settled with them. And hope you get your bucket list fulfilled

steering stabilizers are just a band-aid on a brain tumor. If it stops DW, it will only do it for a little bit, then DW comes back. Its also hell on your pump and box.

FYI, Rough Country is the laughing stock of the aftermarket world. Think Wal Mart making suspension "kits". We always joked about if you installed Rough Country you will get pulled over for suspicion of DUII due to inability to keep it in its lane.

The best "cure" we ever found was BD steering box brace, single fox damper and the updated steering. They will still do it occasionally and heavier offroad tires, 1/2 tread etc makes it worse. I installed Toyo All Terrain and havent has it happen since.

The front suspension design on the Dodge 4x4's was created by the Jeep engineers and is a slightly different version of the Jeep Cherokee XJ's that have suffered with death wobble issues since 1984.

At one point they did have a dual stabilizer available for the Y-link early version that was made by Rancho.

I hate airbags... :angryfir:

What good is a 'safety device' that can kill you??? #-o

If you wear a seat belt, the "bags" aren't needed... :toothy1:
