Ok I'm not one to rant in a public forum and I'm not pointing fingers at any one individual but, I've been seeing a upward trend in the "name calling" going on in some of the forums. In our hobby there are hundreds if not thousands of differing opinions concerning this and that. Some valid, some can seem pretty far out there. But I see no benefit from calling anyone or their ideas and thoughts stupid, idiotic, moronic etc. etc. I have two friends, one I happened to meet through the other, who's opinions I value. Both men are 70+ years old and have been friends, racing and building motors since before i was born. I have gotten advice from both of them on many issues. They have differing opinions on a lot of things. Both are very opinionated and believe their way is the best, yet I have never heard either one bad mouth the other or anyone else for that matter. I have learned so much from both of these men. I respect that they are able to voice their thoughts and opinions without tearing the other down. So I guess what I'm really getting at is, Really? This forum is the best thing I've seen for helping others with similar interests. From the newbies to the old timers, from the restorers to the all out racers. We all have something to learn from each other. I'd like to see more help and less beat downs. Also, I do understand that quite a few of the beat downs Ive seen were started by someone posing a question, and then brow beating any responses, just looking for the confrontation. To those I choose to click over to the next thread. Anyway now that I'm obviously rambling I will stop this rant. I do believe that FABO is by far the best site on the web for the Mopar enthusiast! Lets keep it that way! Everyone Have A Great Day!

Yeah, I have to agree too. I don't post a lot but I've been on this forum for a long time doing a lot of following along. I've noticed that over the past couple of years a few very active members have strongly contributed to a decline in the overall positive and friendly feel of this forum.

These days whenever I go to check out a thread I find myself wondering if I'm going to see someone needlessly tossing out thinly veiled insults at other members.

The ignore list works wonders.

I have asked several A Body owners I meet in the street if they are members here. Most know of the site, but are really not impressed with the ego and banter so decline to join. But I don't think that is a FABO-only scenario. Most internet and social media is experiencing this trend.

Agred Mark! Big time!!

I'm just not as involved in the hobby as much as I used to be. I do try to keep my snarkiness limited to N&P. I did notice that the cabin fever comments continued well into summer and started in early fall the last time I hung out here regularly.

I see it ,as...: Internet cabin fever.... Automotive hobbies, are usually an outdoors hobby... I have been here five years plus, and around this time, some people get stir crazy, myself included.... Just ,my honest opinion....

Lol. Dutch Shepherd and gun forums.

I have really dialed back my online time altogether. I quit working for the classic car/hotrod shop I had been at for 19 years, got a job wrenching for the city. I pretty much walked away from it all. Trust me, the attitudes you see in here are a sampling of what I was living with in the real world.

Absolutely, most (anti) social media is nothing but a cesspool of attitude and ego, but fabo used to be a safe haven from that. Not as much these days.

Don't get me wrong, fabo is still a million time better than just about any alternative. Just not as nice as it used to be.

Part of it is due to the popularity of fabo. Anything that grows in size is bound to get more "walks of life". More drunks, more wife beaters more knowledge base, more more more. The good with the bad.
Just my opinion

The men you speak of have earned each others respect. It is a feat not so easily obtained digitally. A lot of the banter is just good fun if your skin is thick enough. Being a line mechanic for 30 plus years will give you thick skin. Sarcasm rarely works on an online discussion forum... you Pansy:drama::lol:.

Now I wouldn't literally jump out of the car drunk and kick the wing off that stupid looking "dartbird" contraption , but the visual was great

I have been here a long time, since before Joey bought the site. The population has exploded exponentially bringing a lot of different personalities and personality disorders as referenced above. I joined because I had an A body Barracuda to build and I knew I could not do it without help. For the most part, I have gotten all the help one could ask for. That said I have wandered into threads that I wish I had not, time out of my life I will never get back. This was founded as a car enthusiast site and as such in my mind that is what it should be. I don't do any other social media so I do not know how the game is played. I snowmobile so I joined SnowWest. I built a Comet to I joined a Ford Falcon site because it was the closest I could find to Comet-same platform. I no longer post to either of those sites, only this one. My Barracuda is nearly finished and I will be moving on to a site that has 40 Ford enthusiasts as that will be my next build.
All that said, my stay here has been for the most part enjoyable. I would like to see the baiting and name calling stop but I don't expect that to actually happen so I take it as it is and ask the questions relevant to building my car and post my build experience on my build thread in the hope I can pay a bit of it forward to the next guy needing help.
I am glad Mark originated this thread, it needed to be talked about, thanks.
Big day in the shop tomorrow on final assembly---------------DR out-------------------cheers to all-----------------:) oh yeah, GO SEAHAWKS!!!
