$50 Craigslist 360 EXTREME budget rebuild??

Oh crap I use just water in my new motor! Well amd a bottle of that Redline water wetter but I do change it every year like here we go I'll be emptying it out to change it into this motor it's always something.
A couple of observations, the felpro gasket kit will not come with the oil pump gasket, it does come with a new melling oil pump.
I have only found one source for the gasket, a guy in NJ or NY sells old hemi parts sells them, for a few bucks apiece and his shipping is reasonable. I have is information in my garage, if you need it.

Also that crud in the coolant passages is from running straight water, I suggest antifreeze mixed with deiodized water when you put it back together.

You may get by on the 360 heads IF the guides are tight...you may be able to clean the valves and lap in the seats. It's possible there was some crap in them and not letting them seal.

Just put some blue on the seat and the valve and lap it and make sure it has a seat.

BTW, those prices you posted were way cheaper than I work for. IDK who that is but he needs to raise his prices. JMHO on that.

Well both of them have crappy valve guides. The 360 was tighter but it might have just had more crud packed in there.

Made it home safe and sound. Thanks for the hospitality Jpar! Good times! Unloaded my engines and am dropping one off at the machine shop in the morning! Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

I don't have any idea what these are worth? I picked them up for fifty bucks. Does anybody know what this stuff is worth? I didn't really want a cast iron intake but for the price I figured I was doing okay. Said it came off of the 340 car. he has a 73 or something Roadrunner 340 with a pistol grip that was all stocking original I'm hoping it's not the original manifold for the car and carburetor that would be something I'd want to keep

I got this on a separate deal and I'd rather not say what I paid for it yet but I would like some guesses or maybe some opinions and what it's worth? I guess I just don't want to be laughed at when I paid too much for it. I'm kind of a sucker for direct connection stuff though.

tach is worth more than 50 for sure....
Intake/TQ are a deadly combo.... if you have a good TQ and know how to tune them. I watched them personally go into the 10's.....

today after work- got that big ticket stuff. Again was hoping for a aluminum intake, and I have absolutely no idea on how to tune a thermoquad? That will probably be a whole learning experience, but I do believe it was a running unit. it sure doesn't look like it looking in it. I do have 90% of a Edelbrock that I'm familiar with. But this does at the very least help the project along and at very cheap price? I took care of a couple great big-ticket stuff which will allow me to hopefully get some work done on those heads which I'm most worried about spending money on. So officially I'm up to $100 on this build. But I do have to make at least $100 order to get those gaskets here by the weekend. I want to have things at the very least cleaned up and ready to start sealings things up. getting everything ready for the heads to go on.

Honestly I'm not looking for people to guess what I had paid for it, it really doesn't matter. I just really have no idea what a real value would be for it. I probably would have paid 4 times as much. I'm just glad to be able to put stuff like that on the car and have people see it and be able to pass it on to my kid.

Do you know anything about these thermoquads? rebuild kits available, are they difficult?

I ran TQ's for years.
If you use a square bore on that intake, I suggest taking out some of the plenum up by the primaries. IF you use the TQ, well, it takes more than a post to explain the adjustments. One of the main adjustments, though, is the back flap (air door over the secondaries). You can adjust how fast it opens (critical), and how far it comes open.

Can I rebuild it? Should I rebuild it? Or just clean it out and see if it runs? And what's up with that manifold? I mean there's these holes underneath where are the carburetor go's ? I know nothing about this stuff.

ignore the "holes" underneath where the carb goes. Believe me, I know a guy that has a TQ intake on his vehicles and turns over 7000 rpm's.
Key in this video is from 9:39 to about 10:39.... the air flap. You can adjust it the speed of it opening with 2 flat head screw drivers of different sizes (you'll see by trying).

Wait a minute ignore holes in the intake? Any idea what does were put there for? Nitrous!

Ignore them.... trust me :D You don't see them, your tired and they are really not there.....

If triple-R learned me some stuff it wouldn't be the first time...
thank you

Work's been pretty busy so it's hard to break away and call machine shops during the day but that will be the order of business if possible. I've got to call around and find where and how I'm going to get some work done to his heads. I'm wondering if someone will just do new valve guides deck the heads without the hot tanking I can bring them in pretty damn clean .
