Why is Pro Stock Dodge down on horsepower ?

Glad to see they are turnin it around some.

That said, this is nothing any different than any other time in history. Both Wally Parks and Bill France have had the gays for Chevrogay right from the start. They have both done everything in their power to assure Chevy has the deck stacked against everyone else. Limit RPM? That's dead obvious who it was aimed at. If you think any differently, check your intelligence at the door. Save money my ***. They are still sanctioning Mopar just like the old days.

Yeah, I never did get the whole thing on limiting the RPM? I mean when they started regulating the percent of nitro the Top Fuel cars could run, it made sense as I remember sitting in the stands at the Gator Nationals and watching one after the other oil the track down and waiting for ever for track clean up. What really sucks is NHRA also finds the team 10,000.00 when it happens.

Regulations like that are across the board, but the RPM limitation is obviously aimed at the Mopar teams. It has zero effect on anyone else.

I really hate to think the Dodge boys were cheating way back when, but there is a nice pic of an explosion in the hood scoop that was caught on camera and taped b4 the end of the quarter. They weren't really kicked out but were asked nicely not to return. Kim.

Always been my theory if you pass tech...then you are not cheating....you pass the nhra tech inspection....lol

Exactly, all the accusations in the world don't mean **** without proof. They gave us someone to route for everyweek, and even finished 1 and 2 in points. It ain't cheating if you don't get caught.

Run that theory by your wife and see if she agrees with you. Back during the Alderman/Geoffrion domination days and then the bogus break in at Wayne county Dodge after the explosion. Then the claim of the destroyed blocks and heads and the excuses about how long it takes to re machine the blocks heads, etc? Then nothing? Yeah, they got caught with there hand in the cookie jar! Cheating is Cheating, I don't care how Bill Clinton tries to spin it.

Marital infidelity and racing are 2 completely different things and can't even be compared.

During this time period....there was nothing in the rule book about NOS being illegal....nor did it say it was legal....

Bob Glidden was running too, he just kept a better secrewt of it, keeping his intake covered to everyone. Rusty even admitted it a few yrs back !

Remember the weight regulation against Hemi's, in the early 70's?.... Bob Glidden blew that b.s. out of the water, with the Arrow, then the Fairmont.... Excellence in factory based engines, that win..... You get penalized.. It's a shame...people who have new ideas, get penalized....

I think it was Smokey Yunich, in chapter 1 of his speed secrets for small block chevies, that said since the beginning of time, people have been arguing about whether Chevy is better then Ford, then every time a Mopar shows up and puts them both in the trailer. Funny how many people in this MOPAR website ***** and moan about mopar heads, blocks, etc being inferior. Go run your ******* LS motor and continue being one of the reasons we can't get affordably priced parts for the true mopar guys

At the Hall of Fame banquet last year at Carlisle in a speech by the head of Chrysler Racing (an iductee) in the 70's their motto was......

Win if you can....
Loose if you must....
But always cheat....... if you were not being creative. ...you are not trying hard enough.

In his opinion, the PC / everyone has to be the same is crap...and has ruined the ingenuity of the racer.

On the current issue, my personal opinion is that as usual, NHRA once again shot themselves in the foot. By trying to control costs, they make a Chebbie show out of it.

Unfortunately, there has been nothing stock about Pro Stock since 1973.....could say the same for NASCAR.

Smokey Yunick is my favorite racing icon.

I remember well the days when Bob Glidden was running the small block Mopar in his Arrow.
A lot of people don't know that it had a Ford cam valley furnace brazed into it to correct the geometry to his liking.
There were a lot of very ingenious people back in the day, and it will continue for many years to come.
I'm not a fan of the current rules, these engines are becoming more of a ''spec'' engine, and when the real racers come up with more ideas to become competitive, they are just restricted more and more.
Without diversity in the brands, the class will become a ''Chevy only'' class.
The Mopars are barely hanging in there as it is, and i would like to see some Fords in there as well.

I am a mopar man at heart but I would also like to see fords being competitive in pro stock. I suppose they would be up against the same thing mopar is. Funny how there is no changes in nascar until the chevy start falling behind.

If I remember right(but I am old) the prostock driver that got caught with NOS including one of the Glidden's was through traces of nitrous in there oil. The Dodge boy's never did, so instead of condemning them if they were, lets congratulate them for building an engine with the best ring seal ever in a competition engine, Ha-Ha. Don't forget the Mopar teams still hold the record in racing for being band. In the 70's the Grump lead the charge to band the Hemi because with all Chevy teams if you can't beat them band them. Look at SS/A the 427 Camaro could not compete against the Hemi Dart and Cuda so NHRA put them in there own class SS/AH. That class was filled with new ZL1 427 in Camaro's for a short time till a 64 427 thunderbolt showed them the new path to the record books. As soon as Chevy figures how to get rid of the Ford they will most likely take another assault at the class. Remember any racing record ever broken was cheating, because you have to bend the rules or look out side the rule book to do it.

Really, the new Demon. Need I say more?
Why don't you make a apples to apples comparison? The Demon is not a race only car, Pro stock doesn't run a III Gen Hemi, Alan Johnson's Pro Stock doesn't have A/C,/P/S, Cruise control, P/W, P/B, need I go on. How in the Hell does the Challenger Demon help in any of the pro categories?

All I can say is "Mopars are built by the best" and then there is all the rest, Just whatever's....
