A few years back I introduced my duster project.A car that I had purchased new from the local chrysler dealership in 1974, as a sophomore in high school. My intentions were to have the car finished in time to drive to my 40th high school reunion. Well that didn't happen. Other work had taken precedence. And the duster sat by the wayside. Now recently, I've become tormented by the voices in my head. Prodding me to get back to the duster. I've tried to soldier on, and resist the cries. But, with great agony, and sleepless nights. Distant day dreaming, and cold sweats behind the wheel of my durango. I've been broken. A beaten man! The duster is once again a primary focus. Only now, all the work that I had originally put into the car has been discarded for a new direction. We begin with a few pictures of what I accomplished two years ago. And then where the build is going now.

More pictures! Slant or 318 or 360? Notice it has a sunroof; any other unusual options? When did you lat have it on the road? Doing any upgrades on it?

Yes it has a factory moon roof. Considered to be a space duster due to fold down back seat. Factory 360 manual transmission car. Hope to keep moon roof, manual trans, and fold down back seat. Engine will be modern hemi.

I must be wired backwards....I'm putting a 2014 Challenger body on a modified Duster chassis

I need a Challenger front (ahead of the front wheel well) structure. ..go any burnt pieces left over?......not too well done please.

No I don't sorry Denny

The rear section is in it's final position. You can see the duster rear rail stubs and challenger rails meet with a minor deficit. An extension will have to be made for the trunk floor to meet the rear body panel. As Well as a filler piece to meet each trunk floor drop off.

Cool IRS rear. I'm surprised how close the two are in width. I looked at doing a late model irs in my early A body but it's way to wide and narrowing it would have been too complected. I ended up doing a IRS swap with a Jag xjs rear-end.
Your project looks awesome so far!

A real 1 of 586, 360, 4 speed Duster? You've got more guts than I do.

I struggle to cut the floor out of mine for a 5 or 6 speed, and you've gone exponentially beyond that. Truthfully, it's one of the things I don't like about my car, wish it was a /6 or 318 car so I wouldn't struggle so much to modify it.

Looks like you are doing a good job melding the two.

Yes there was A lot of hesitation. But one thing that was drummed into my head years ago was "don't think about It! Just do it!". From there, the first cut is the one that hurts. And then make your cuts like a surgeon. It's steel it can always be welded back together.

spot weld cutter and air chisel your choice for the major separation on the Challenger?

With the narrower Duster body, have you given any thought to tire size in the rear? .....or plan on crossing that bridge when you get there.

looks kinda like the Flash did when we got it......but we had 18" to the frame rail to play with.

Now the challenger trunk floor ends abruptly short to that of what the duster had. So a floor extension must be created to meet the duster taillight panel. First i made a basic template from pattern paper. Then mocked it into place to give it an eyeball. From here i will transfer too, and cut the new floor pieces from sheet metal and graft them into place
