I have a 1978 dated 4 bbl. Intake from a 360. My friend has a 74 318 and I was going to give him intake for the 318.

Neither one of us know if It will work.

Any problems with a 360 intake on a 318?

Shouldn't be. Only thing I can see is that the ports are larger on 360 heads so you might wanna port match those 318 heads to the 360 intake. Otherwise, should bolt right in.

yes it will work use the gasket that gives you the best sealing around the intake port.

If he has the newer 974 casting 318 heads, they have the same intake port size as the 360 & 340.

Minor port mismatch, not a big power looser unless you start pumping it up well. Port matching the head to the intake is a good move on high performance engine. I wouldn’t worry a second.

what the above have said
yes there is a port mismatch but at the velocity a 318 pulls no big deal
if you are going to grind the first sticky on this site gives you a lot more than a simple bell on the 318 intake would do
just install and be happy
small vac sec 4 bbl - avs works well but a TQ from a small block would be excellent

Chrysler put millions of 360 intakes on 318s right from the factory. They must notta been too concerned with it. It'll work just fine.

Thanks everyone who replied, Fabo rocks by having all you very knowledgable people here.

THANKS

My own cheepie example is a great example..................

Had used 360 in the car which lost a rod bearing. It was an "unknown" engine"

Found (luck) what turned out to be a VERY low miles '70's 318, never touched. Likely less than 20K judging from cam and chain wear.

Ran it a week "stock" to be sure it was OK. Swapped in my old "340 like" cam, an Ed Performer RPM, and already had the headers off 360

NO OTHER changes. At the time an Ed AFB later TBI Holley That little cheap engine was so snotty it was incredible. I've seen 340s didn't run that good.

Hello
I know this posting is a year old, but I ran into a problem with
A 360 intake.. It is not stock Chrysler but a Wieand
It will not fit because of the A\C pump. has anyone done this
setup, any ideas? Will a stock Crysler intake work with the A\C pump

Best

Stock manifolds are designed to work with the original compressor and brackets. I also know that the Edelbrock LD4B works with a/c. Obviously the Weiand doesn't.

The Edlebrock performer series also works with AC
