So, I'm changing out my bulbs on my 1970 Dart and I've run into a few small issues.

All of the bulbs light up when I turn the ignition on. Turn signals, dash illumination, high beams, everything. When I turn the headlight switch on or off it doesn't make a difference.

When I turn the dimmer up and down nothing happens. When I turn the headlight switch on or off it doesn't make a difference. Do you think I should change out the headlight switch? or...?

Idea's please

Thanks!

i put led tailight bulbs in my ram van. they work but blink real fast like there are blown regular bulbs back there.

yeah I tried those in my dash with no luck and went back to factory bulbs,,most leds have a MIN ON voltage and a MAX voltage and don't like to dim

Going from bulb to led in 50 yr old cars can cause a lot of grief. Our 67 cuda has them in the dash and work intermittently.

I did change out the headlight/dimmer switch(glad I did because the dimmer was toast) and it didn't make a difference. I'll keep trying and if all else fails I'll just go back to the ol 194's

Where did you buy your leds from? I bought some from diodedynamics and installed them in my 95 bronco cluster and they dim fine

Maybe you need to restate or more specific about the problem. You said you "turn the ignition on" and "all the lights..............."

What exactly happens. What all lights and what all does not? Do any other switches affect them at all?

How do you KNOW the cluster is grounded? My idea of checking this IE is to probe the ground point on the PC board and put the other probe on a known ground. See if there is a voltage difference.

There are few things that could cause this, regardless of LED/ vs bulb

Instead of using bulbs...... cheap alternative is LED strips. You don’t need. Anything else either. Solder positive and negative on, use 3m adhesive tape along the outside of the bezel (behind the guages inside the guage pod itself facing inwards). Run positive to the plug on the back of the guages that control lights, ground the other side. Boom. 10 bucks. 12 inches of leds and nicely lit. Plus it lights everything the original lights didn’t get. Dimmer works fine with them as well.

I bought mine from O'reilly and they work fine, don't dim much, but enough in my 70 Dart.
