Have a look at what I found.

1963 Dart GT Convertible... with 57,000 original miles. Absolutely NO Rust just one small dent. It needs new paint and a new convertible top. The interior is almost perfect.

What do you think this might be worth just from what you can see of it.
I already know about what tops and general parts for one of these cars goes for, so we are assuming it needs some work and may not even run.
Any work it did need on the engine, trans, or paint I can do myself.

Thanks

Damn!!! The interior looks great!! I guessing somewhere around 3K-6K depending on whether the engine will turn and/or start and if it comes with a clear title??

They don't seem to be worth a whole lot, but I would say somewhere between 2 and $3,000 in its current state. If the floor is solid than closer to 3. If the engine is able to turn and is at least lose, then surely closer to 3. The convertible top is a pain in the *** to repair, but the interior on that car looks great. I would say buff the paint out and wax it and drive it around as is if you can get it running.

Good lookin car, but I don't like drop tops. You asked.

That car on the east coast would be around $5K with non-working motor. Depending on the quality level of resto you want it should bring $10 - $17K done. Your way ahead of the game with the interior being done, no missing trim & no rust. Even if you spend $5K on motor, paint & new top at thats subbing it out but you said you can do that work so I would imagine it would cost you around $2500 for repairs. Overall if you paid $5K on the high end and $2500 in repairs your $7500. into it. You won't lose money if you need to sell her down the road. A big plus for value & resale is its red / red and top goes down, price goes up! If you got the cash...No brainer, GO FOR IT!...JMO

OK, an update.
I don't like drop tops much either but this was going to be an investment car.
The guy was asking $4,500 for the car before we went and looked at it, but this is how it actually was when we got there.
I had no intention of paying 4,500 but in the condition of the above pics maybe 3k (maybe)

I was fairly pissed and so was the Wife when we saw the pics above and got there to see this.
We wanted the original patina.
He said he took it apart to get it painted, but "The engine and trans both work fine"
I told him now that he pulled it all out of the car, from my standpoint as the possible buyer all he had was a core motor and a core trans laying on the floor of his shop.

The thing was full of dirt and leaves to the point you couldn't even tell what color the interior was.

He ended up saying he would take 3,500 for it as is, but I told him I wasn't paying the upper end of the scale for something that would take hours to verify that even all the parts were there, let alone now having no indication of engine or trans condition.
Very disappointing.

Ouch!
That is a project for someone that has a real passion for that car.
Oh the engine should be red & not blue as in the first set of pics - so I wouldn’t beleive anything they say about this car.
As for value I might pay a max of $1,500.

I think that's a shitty move on his part. Send you pictures. You get there and it's all apart. I wouldn't be happy.

WTH? Are you kidding me? Somebody actually did this to you? This is the most ballsy "bait and switch", I've ever heard of. Somebody would find themselves sitting on their wallet, if that happened to me.

Yea he did, WTF?
He said he revised the price to reflect this current condition, so he was asking 4,500 for the way it sits now, but still had the fully assembled pics above on his ad.
I was biting my tongue pretty hard, and was hard pressed to not be an A hole about it, but hey ya gotta go look to find the deals and it was only a 35 mile round trip.
One would think he would update the pictures on his ad at least.

Offer $3500. Wouldn’t go more than $4200. If he’s hung on anything higher, walk. My guess he hasn’t had many takers given where the car may be located.

Wow. What an asshole. I've seen my fair share of CL ads where they post the first (banner) photo of a fabulous car, then the rest of the pix are of a worn out wreck with the explanation that "if you invest enough time and effort it will look like the first picture". IMHO, this deal changed gears significantly from what looks like a sweet ride to a pile of parts. Plus, the guy's credibility is now zero so I'd assume the worst in all situations. I'd give him no more that $1000 and he'd be lucky to avoid a black eye in the process.

Kind of a jerky move to post those pics in his ad, only to find it's not in THAT condition....

Too bad as the interior looked top notch!!

I’d tell him I would buy it right now for $4,100 as it was shown in the ad pics, and it needs to be running & driving.

This could be a really nice car but financially you’ll be upside down on it immediately no matter what price you pay.

Not in it for the car to keep, so being upside down isn't going to happen.
I have a rule where we don't pay more than 1/2 what something is worth unless we want it to keep.

Problem is 1/2 the people in this Hobby or (Business) now a days. Start on something, take it apart then realize they are over there heads or loose interest. But, still want what they have into the car.

That reminds me of the time I drove 10 hours round-trip to go look at a car that the guy posted pictures of a totally different car, same make and model beautiful 65 Plymouth Valiant, on Craigslist to sell the car. When I got there was a rusted Hulk that was hit in the rear end underneath a tarp.

Does nobody here have an Ebay horror story? I learned, years ago, the hard way. I paid $12,500 for a hot rod that was a busted piece of junk. At least you were smart enough to not buy sight unseen.
