my hungry new stroker ! !

-
make you as nervous as me missing 2 pushrods ,I found 1wrapped around my distributor shaft ,and the other cut in 1/2 , down in the pan with 2 lifters ,and an arm off my rockers , 1 cam with 2 lobes gone , luckily no head damage or any scores to pistons or walls , and crank looked nice yet 100% total rebuild free on comps dime after a long dispute , but up and tearing up the tires now, really glad you found that issue in time , and I hope no more damage is found or been done . hope your nerves calm down soon ,
and your back stroking it.Nice save , gl from here on out !!! Jon

vomit....

My old phone lost a ton of my pictures and when I go back through these threads I can recoup....
Its funny most people that made comments haven't been on the forearm for 6 months LOL
Or years...

I've never had a 3.31 stroke eat a dipstick..... ate a lot of 350 chivies... LOL

273/318/340's have not been oil burners for me...… ????? you??
I currently have no idea where all the oils going out of my 360 Magnum in my truck??? Not one single drop on my driveway and not one puff of smoke?? Yet IIseem to lose a qourt about every hundred miles?????

my #1 guess is your intake plenum gasket is blown. probably shows in #8 plug

Here is your fix.
Hughes Engines

129 bucks, or you can shop ebay. others make it also
You would think I would see some smoke? And also you would think the computer would be throwing a code? of course I would like to think it would have more power but on a three quarter ton extra cab long bed I'm not expecting the Duster...

you'd think... but it's not how it works. I've owned several magnums, and some have had the issue, others not. To tell the truth, I've never replaced it. The worst I've had was about 600 miles per qrt, so I just added and changed two plugs about every 8 months.

and while you have that intake off your motor there is a modification you can do to the ports inside that manifold that don't cost you any money and will give you 10 or 15 horsepower.
By the way when you fix that gasket and put on that plate use new bolts.

Again with that plug fouling out you never had I throw a computer code or a check engine light?

Ironically, my '01 2500 has 256,*** and only uses a qrt about every 2000 + miles.

I've been wanting to pull the motor since the day I got truck. The spring when the weather gets a little better that motor is likely coming out for a reseal and repaint. I don't like a black motor I like it corporate blue so I can see or oil leaks and such. I'm going to try and keep the second Durango around just long enough to get this done so I'm not left without a vehicle for a week or two.

I'll knock on your door when the time comes to get those modifications. I want to be well prepared cuz this is my main truck and I won't want it down too long..

I have four magnums in vehicles and so far have never blown the plenum gasket.
I did buy one of those aluminum plates from one of the guys here on Fabo just in case I should need one in the future.
I have three spare intakes in the barn for the magnums. My plan is to modify one and install the aluminum plate on it. Then if I had one blow a gasket I'll just switch intakes.

When I bought the truck I seen fluid all over the transmission and the transmission had been rebuilt 6 months previous and was still under warranty. I said if that's fluid all over the transmission we need to take it down to the tranny shop and see what they say. The previous owner and I went down there and the tranny shop looked at it and said that's oil from the motor. I assumed it was a massive rear seal leak..
but again not one drop on the ground and no smoke whatsoever and no codes being thrown by the computer like your following number a plug or something?

That mod helps the upper end. The kegger intake was designed for 1500-4500 rpm's. If Jaws isn't going to race it, he won't benefit much from that.

I did two things to help part throttle low end on my '01 Ram.
  1. I advanced the timing by slotting the crank sensor, about 3 degrees
  2. I ported and polished the throttle body from a 47 mm to a 50 mm.
Part throttle response is more crisp. Bottom end will melt the tire.... remember this?

LOL

I mean a full 5 quarts on a 600 mile trip? There would be some major smoke or the catalytic converter completely burnt out I would think?

Again, there may be a leak or something else, but I'd say most of it is the plenum gasket

I didn't have the volume up for that video but I watched video yesterday of you making the heater duct vent hoses LOL you Midwest accent ... LOL can you say Minnesoooooo-da LOL :poke:

Oh, I also got a good deal on Harland Sharpe Roller rockers 1.7 ratio. These helped the idle be stone smooth, and not a lifter noise no matter how cold of a start. I started it at 30 below a few days back. But, I didn't notice any performance gain off the rockers...…

Don't forget that along with oil being sucked into that manifold air is also.
So I would think your computer is compensating for the extra air by adding more gas. Which in turn would dilute the oil somewhat.
I'll bet that truck is getting crummy gas mileage.
