1969 Dart Street/Strip (Re)Build

^ No question...seems like he has been through a lot with it. Accidents, different K's, oil pans.....lots of challenges. I have a 68' I'm working on...thinking of doing the HDK so I found this thread inspiring!

Thanks for the comment. I have been hibernating for the winter it seems like lol. I moved the Dart to a storage unit recently and moved the Barracuda inside my garage. Bought a 17K mile Gen III 6.1 from a friend and plan to install that at some point. I’m going to TRY and not dump a ton into this one.

The HDK setup will make things much easier in the long run when dealing with headers and clearance for other things.

Hey fellas, I just wanted to let you know that Billet Specialties now offers a 2.75” backspacing on the front 17x4.5 wheels. When I ordered these, they were made for modern cars with a 2.00 backspacing only. This will give you .75” more room to the fender than the ones I ordered!!! This is the wheel that I really need on my car to get the suspension travel I am seeking. Too bad I ordered them too early! Ugh! But now you know, the 2.75” backspacing is made for our older muscle cars.

Give us a running account of ur build . Getting it to run properly w/o a ton of $$ will be interesting !!

Getting it to run properly without a ton of money is going to be impossible! I’m already 6K deep in it and I didn’t want to go over 10K for the idea I have currently. But that’s before all the twin turbo dreams and such haha! So I’m going to definitely have to get creative to make it a solid sleeper driver car for under 10K but I’ll try. I’ll do a different thread on that car.

cool , sounds like u have been busy at it already---$6000 .

I didn’t do many videos last year but I found a few stashed away and threw them together. Looking forward to doing some more cruising videos with slow rolls 2nd-3rd with the cutouts open. She seems to have a really pleasant voice from 5K on up.

I almost commented on your YouTube channel as to why the grass is so green in Wichita this winter?!?! I'll be following along on the Barracuda thread as well. Can't wait.

Haha cause I’m so slow these days to get anything done. Wife lost her job and kiddo is getting close to 2 yrs old now and hard to keep up with. So no spending money until my wife lands a new job unfortunately. And most of spare time is spent raising our girl, working weekends, or helping my dad get his barn built back in OKlahoma at the farm.

Took my daughter out for the first time this weekend in the Dart. I think she had a pretty good time considering how cranky she was.

Changed out the front springs from 350 lb spring rate to a 250 lb spring rate to help soften the front end and to have more stored energy in the springs for launch. Try not to laugh at how I separated the ball joints!

New set of uppers with a slightly different ball joint angle.

Spent last Saturday at MoKan Dragway at the Mopars Invade event. Didn’t do any good but we had good times. I red lit -.005 in the first round. Then I had to decide what time to throw on the window for the buy back round. The dilemma stemmed from the track not being prepped the best. I’d run 10.60’s in the left lane and 11.00-11.10’s in the right lane. So I threw 11.00 on there hoping they’d put me in the right lane. Nope! I got left lane and had to go against a 17+second pickup. I let off but not nearly enough and blew past him and ran a 10.85. So I was out of the race and had the rest of the day to enjoy a beer or two with friends.

On the ride home we encountered some rain and man did it leave my car nasty! Wish I had an enclosed hauler for this car.

Hey Clint, are ur coil overs longer than 10'' ? I am getting ready to put 250# springs on the front of my barracuda, and wondering how much the coils will have to be jacked up tighter to keep the front end the same heigth . I have 350# springs on them now, and virtually "no" front end lift ! ==.170 60foot , spinning well into second gear ,w/ 295 65 15 d.radials , now 295 65 d15 hoosier quicktimes < "I got caught in the rain w/ the d.radials" , needed some tread.
Ur filter scoop situation is like mine was before I changed to a victor intake. I had it centered w/ offset stuff tho. It was ***** trying to build an air pan/filter for the new intake , centered , w/ the throttle body up in the 6 pack scoop. I already had the 16'' hole cut in the center under the scoop-------
Really curious about the ride height !!

These are 12” springs but still lack about 1.25” of full extension at the coilover due to suspension geometry and wheel combination limitations. The new springs are coiled about 8 more threads than they were before. The front end is noticeably easier to bounce now. At launch, the front end was dropping too soon so I adjusted the extension to 3 clicks so it raises up about right and stays there. Have to take slow mo videos to really see and watch what’s going on.
