finished a little slant 6 today, restored with a small comp cam and 4BBL intake. 172HP and 210TQ. 9:1 compression.

Thank you for sharing this, the slants don't usually get as many props as they deserve...........

What is the CID of the 6 banger? You did say, "little"....

231 CID, 9:1, bowl blending only, stock valves, better springs for the cam, offy intake OOTB with a QF 450 carb. 28° timing.
Stock they are 145HP and 215TQ but not sure if that's actuall what it would make on our dyno? It sings pretty good, great throttle response, OEM ex. manifold. Just a nice 100,000+ mile engine.

Great display of a slant. You said "a nice 100,000 + mile engine." Was it not a total over haul? The throttle linkage...type? Your engine is what I'm shooting for on the 65 Barracuda I'm restoring. I have the same intake but a 390 CFM Holley. Your engine sounds great.

Awesome video and pics, made me realize how much I forgotten how much I still like the old sloping six. Brings back good memories and feelings that the thumbs up and thanks buttons can't even convey the gratitude for...

Since your torque figure is below stock, I wonder if your dyno might be somewhat conservative? I can't see all those mods and the torque falling off. That's not right I don't think.

Yup, because its not easy to make them fast like a V8. More internal work needed, than bolt ons.

Yup and that one will be snappy. I am certain his numbers are conservative. All those mods and lower than stock torque. Ain't happenin. I've always said build the 225 for torque anyway. With a 4.125 stroke, that's what they're made for. This one's a good example.

i think what he meant was that the goal was an engine that will effortlessly give him 100K, not that the engine had that much on it when he started the rebuild

Thanks guys! I would love to see what a factory stock 225 makes for power on our dyno, just hard to imagine a single BBL carb/intake and 8.4:1 making 215TQ. But maybe????

If you could have put it on MRLs dyno, it would have made at least 300 hp! But nice build, looks like eye candy too!

Well go fond one and hook it up. Chop chop Hopsing. lol

Nice looking engine, but the street version will have less net power if you use a belt to drive the water pump and alternator from the crank.
jus sayin
