I've been checking these out recently and bought one a few weeks ago. The radiator came and was in good condition when it arrived. I checked the fitment of the radiator and it looked to fit the car, but not my engine application. I spoke to Cold Case a few times about sending it back for a different style and they said no problem but shipping is on me. I packaged the radiator back up and sent out via ups.

Today I received this email

Colin,

We got the box back and the radiator is trashed.
Big gouge in it. There was no packing in it, the plastic bag was not
around the radiator, nor was the styrofoam to protect it.
Now with this bad of damage, I can not restock as I cannot really do
anything with.

I don't mind still offering you the new MOP754A radiator but I'll have
to charge you. I'll give you a good deal on it.
$383.56 + shipping is retail. I'll sell a new one for $300 shipped to
help you out because I want you to have our product in there!

Now while I don't claim to have packaged this up 100 percent perfectly I did return with extra cardboard and some packing peanuts. In my opinion some assistance in taking care of this from the manufacturer would have been a much better avenue to handle a claim rather than just saying its junk and by the way on top of the $500 plus I have invested in a junk radiator please give us another $300 for a new one.

I should have checked the insurance in this package but see ups only offers $100 protection. I was not offered anything additional at Ups.

Lots of lessons to be learned here but I will not do business with again, nor would I suggest to a friend.

What say you Cold Case?

I would get what you can from UPS then pay for it to get shipped back. Maybe you can at least sell it with the damage to recoop some $. If I was looking to save a bit I would buy and fix. doesn't look that bad. What are the dimensions ?

I will not ship anything UPS, they have destroyed 2 six pack setups I have purchased plus a aluminum cyl head. Most things that get shipped to me UPS, the boxes are smashed and they look like they were playing soccer with them. One six pack was insured but they sent the money to the seller and he kept the money, UPS said I would have to sue him to get my money. NEVER EVER SHIP WITH UPS.

It's their direct fit 22 inch A body radiator. Saying the box is completely trashed and having on small damaged area doesn't really point to "neglect" on my part. Am I a professional packager? Nope. My fault for not insuring. I'd just expect customer support to be a bit better when dealing with such a high dollar item. I've been in customer service in the automotive world long enough to know I'd never say that to a customer... I'd find a way to make it happen for them no matter what.

the UPS store should have also offered you insurance. ( even with it its a PITA!!! ) because they will Always blame your packaging. only way around it, is to pay them to package it...…

I agree. Unfortunate situation for everyone but as stated I'd never tell a customer they are basically screwed. There is ALWAYS a work around to get things done.

Just curious, why you didn't put it back in the exact same packaging that Cold Case used?

Is the picture posted the only spot that has damage? Are both the inlet and outlet on the drivers side? I may know someone interested in it if you could get it back and want to sell it (hint I'm the interested person) :poke:

The only item I didn't use was a plastic bag they wrapped it in. Also the box wasn't easy to remove the radiator from without damaging it. Their return policy states to get a credit it must be in the original box. So I used the original box.

Also my fault for not packing it better but I didn't think they would treat the package so poorly. And my fault for not taking the original box apart without damaging it.

Bottom is driver side and upper is left of middle but not as far left as the lower. I'm having them ship it back to me. If you want it pm me and make an offer. Thanks.

Gotcha. From your description (extra cardboard and packing peanuts, etc.) it sounded to me like you didn't use their packaging.

That is not always true ! I bought a complete six pack from Cal. the UPS store packed the whole thing the air cleaner was in the bottom of the box with the intake and carbs on top the studs for the air cleaner sticking out the top of the stretch rap they rapped it in. when I got it the box was round and the air cleaner smashed one stub broke off in the carb the other broke the carb. UPS told me it was a independent owned store and they don't have anything to do with them. Anybody can own a UPS store. They are the ones that sent the insurance check to the seller, and he kept the money.

The box was torn a bit so I taped some thicker cardboard to the inside of the box to hold it together better. There was probably a week's time in between opening and packing back up so I may have missed some foam as they mention. But I did add peanuts I had from some other shipments. As noted I should have done a better job of packing. I'd just expect a vendor to be more helpful in retaining a customer. I've done it a million times in th ecollision industry. It isn't about kissing a customers butt... It's just about finding a way to make it happen.

Also from the look of the damage it doesn't look like any Styrofoam would have helped. It looks like a puncture to the box and radiator. Either way I should have insured but sucks I wasn't offered it.

Don't blaime yourself, It's all UPS's FAULT

Thanks. Unfortunately I'm out probably close to 600 bucks because of it. Lesson learned.

Next time ship FedEx ! they are the best. and cheaper on bigger and heavy stuff. I use them all the time, USPS for smaller light stuff.

Radiators are an aweful thing to ship . Fragile . this leaves me with doubt about purchasing my rad . I hate buying anything sight unseen . good luck

Did you order the wrong radiator or did they send you the wrong one?

Based on that damage, I would have thought they would take care of it for you. No amount of styrafoam would protect that, unless it was a full sheet about 3" thick.

I ordered it based off the car. But when I set it in I noticed it wouldn't work.

My thoughts exactly.... I know what I'd do as a supplier.... Let's see if they find a resolution.

I had a steering column sent to me. They broke off the gear indicator, and dented the cast part of the column, next to the turn signal. Box ripped open. I think Fedex used it for batting practice.

I'd say it's neither parties fault ups decided to destroy the part. But in my opinion a manufacturer that ships daily could easily make the problem disappear. Hopefully they will respond.

They should do something a bit better than what you quoted.

As far as the bottom hose connection - it is close to 69 B body with A/C, 26" radiator.
