Ordered a set of Dougs Headers two weeks ago at their local store. The store clerk told me they would be there in 2 days. Went there after 4 days since I had not heard from them. Same clerk. Check the system and could not see where they were. Reordered, said it would be here Tuesday this week. Thursday, I called and a store employee told me the headers were not in but would be on a truck Thursday. Today is Friday, still no call and I went by there in person and still no headers shipped yet. Now the store clerk said maybe Monday and offered me a refund. Crap, I told her I wanted the headers and the discount. How damn hard is it to get a box of small block Mopar a body headers? I went to AutoZone because of the discount and what a run a round event! Will see what happens Monday

So you think it's their fault? At the store level? Do tell how you came to that conclusion.

Store has to communicate better to rectify or explain what's going on. 3 visits to same store??? Yeah somethings wrong there.
Good luck, hope they can finger it out.

I would agree there. A phone call or 2 should get some answers. It sounds like may be the inventory count is off in the warehouse.

I bet it was never ordered

You're dealing with the bottom shelf to save money. What exactly did you think justified the savings versus buying direct? When you buy off the bottom shelf, you gotta bend over a bit.

I've been in parts. 1's on computer can be zero's, but to happen 2 or 3 times...
I used to go round and round with MAC customer service. "Could I have that visualized please" and they would get someone on the phone and check it out in the warehouse. It happened quite a few times getting the same "wrong" tool numerous times. They would go to the warehouse and find 9/16 sockets in the 1/2" bin. :BangHead::BangHead:
I had Summit visualize rally wheels before sending them out after receiving paint defective ones 3 times in a row. Their return freight which was good. "Could you have someone at the warehouse take them out of the box and look them over? If they are defective don't bother sending them to me. " That worked!

20% off a $700.00 sticker?

Yep I always ask when checking stock to put hands on it. Been thru it more than once.

Had a similar situation with the local NAPA a while back, I ordered a carb spacer, paid for it, plus an extra $15.00 for next day service. A full week and a couple of visits later, I finally got it. Wrong one, and no refund of the extra money I paid for overnight. Haven't been back since.

I've ordered and received a coupla dozen sets of Doug's over the last decade, from Autozone, for the discount and free shipping.
There have been a few delays, but for the most part, they aren't any worse than most others.
They can't supply what doesn't exist.
I've noticed quite a few less than full shelves at a lotta places, Covid ? ?

Summit would've price matched and had it to your door in two days.

On the other hand - I'd just cut them some slack. This covid ****'s really slowing most businesses operations down. There's bigger stuff to worry about IMO.

Regardless of opinions, this site on many threads has been very complimentary of Tti’s and Dougs headers. And also there were complaints for both. Had it not been for a discount, I was willing to buy either one.

I could have ordered them online, but I chose to help the local store by at least getting them there and help them and myself with a 15% discount.

I come to this site for information and good solid advice and many times experiences with vendors.

This was my experience at one particular store.

Thanks for the opportunity for me to vent a little and maybe soon they will arrive.

Auto zone, O’Reillys, ABC and Harbor Freight are 2 minutes from my house. All on the same street and a rocks throw from each other.

Yeah. Summit could have done it I’m sure.

"..Hello this is Jorge from 218...the 'puter says you got 2 of these, can I get a physical stock check please on a part yadda yadda.....Ill hold. OK, can you set it under the counter for my customer Steve who will be there in 10 minutes? Thanks....and your name? OK, Greg, thanks." Works every time....We got the regional hub 7 miles away in Santa Ana for VatoZone. Special orders are just them ordering the parts to be shipped to their location. Out of their control but it is up to them to make sure it does get sent, and to notify you if there are any issues. They already got your money. @RustyRatRod Rob, Aren't these usually drop shipped from the manufacturer anyway? Buying direct would not be all that different but you would not have someone to question in person if they didn't arrive.

@JoeDragster I added the doug's headers to my autozone cart applied the 20% coupon and the. Had Summit price match it. Had them in 2 days. Nothing against autozone, but I know with Summit it will be fast and mostly hassle free. Not sure of Summit stocks these or if they drop ship them

I can’t say enough good things about this site and another site I have been frequently on for many years.

I will let you guys know how this ends. Probably will work out but doubt I will fool with them again.

I personally can't stand Auto Zone. I WILL agree that getting mad at the people in the store is pointless, but they could probably have done a better job of investigating and communicating. I won't bother to go into the reasons I don't like Auto Zone, but I will NEVER go in one of those low class places again. They are less than the Walmart of auto parts stores.

20% off a $700.00 sticker?

So someone saves 20% on $700, and complains about the process they had to go through to do so.

I want to have my cake to hold and to cherish, but I'm hungry...

Most likely when you ordered them they come from the manufacture and ship to the store ( generally 2 days ) This is called VDP. Maybe the vendor had a problem with their inventory that delayed the shipment. And of course Autozone can't control that. I doubt very much that those would come in on their weekly truck shipment from their distribution center. Now if there was a delay in shipping the store can see it if they look it up and it will also give them a estimated ship date.

Sorry you feel that way. It is very hard to hire quality help and keep it these days. Most of the people that do this kind of work have no automotive experience and sales experience. And I do agree that they could have done better.

I order absolutely everything I can from Summit.. customer service is second to none.. Jegs is a big fat joke... I buy nothing big (over $100) locally..
I could call three AutoZones in my area and get three different answers...
