This thread will go on for generations...
You got me on that one?You know you are "old generation" when you know what the term "3rd brush" means...................
Thanks IR that is exactly what I was thinking but being only a 2nd Gen my english weren’t that good. Great observation on a nice truck, we are talking game changer for sure. Wonder if it grinds gears going into reverse? Seriously tho super cool looking truck, thx for the pix." low whistle " daaammm. Tough AND sexy... she's a Beautiful Beast. Just Tough! Dig the color and tires. Awesome
Gen can tell you which one it is.'I've got a 392 Hemi in a Charger..." it could be really old or really new.
Who’s Gen? Is that a member here?Gen can tell you which one it is.
Could be a 1st Gen in a 4th Gen or maybe a 3rd Gen in a 2nd Gen and now to figure out what you really have do you subtract 2nd Gen from 3rd Gen and get a 1st Gen or add 1st Gen and 2nd Gen to get a 3rd Gen?'I've got a 392 Hemi in a Charger..." it could be really old or really new.
"Generally" lol, in the old days when generators first were used on vehicles, they did not have regulators. Generators must have a cutout relay, because on shutdown, they will try to "motor" and in a regulator, the cutout is included. The "3rd brush" was moveable to regulate current. You set it for "average" use. If you used it heavier in winter (lights) you bumped it upYou got me on that one?
Well, that's interesting. I think our Beetle in the 60's had a generator, but I think they had a mechanical regulator. That is about as much generator experience that I have. Thanks for replying. I always enjoy learning from another person's expertise."Generally" lol, in the old days when generators first were used on vehicles, they did not have regulators. Agree, and while we are there, what is the deal with the months of the year having different amounts of days? Why not make them all the same? And also, we already have months, why are there also ‘ seasons’ like spring winter summer fall, probably some commie idea. And all of the oceans are connected, why do they have separate names? Should just be “ocean”. You can’t tell where one ends and one starts. So what is the deal with the different names. And they are not kept separate. Also why are there 5 different kinds of beans at the grocery. Beans are beans, they all start the same. What’s with this current fad or trend with labeling everything as 1st Gen, 2nd Gen, 1st Generation 3rd generation etc nonsense? Seems it’s all the rage as everything is identified via the Gen or generation label. Likely emanated on Faceplant and now everyone uses it to ID everything. Stupid fads.... speak English for f’s sake, act your age and stop with the nonsense! A 70 a-body is a 70 a-body ok, yeah, old school rules! I’m good now

And another thing, why does anyone predict the weather, it changes all the time and people move about. So if the weather changes is it because it really changed or is it because you are in a different location. I have seen it rain in my front yard and not in my back yard. And why are kids today so young. Years ago it seems like it was the old folks bugging me and causing trouble. Today the old folks seem ok it is the young ones that are out of control.

Sounds like you have a lot of issues!
Next thing you know we'll be talking transgen cars . Ya, WTH?Is that the first gen? Or second gen?
Lemme guess the front seal went bad leaking ps fluid into and shorting out the generator...?I remember when vehicles had genERATORS and not alternators...................
My first car, a 57 Chev had a power steering pump driven off the rear of the generator

Is it a bridge too far to Consider whether a car with another makes Powerplant is the equivalent of a sex change, Or how about the possibility of a 100% Mopar at birth that now feels like Chevy, so among the many abominations and butchery that occurs in our beloved Mopar world we need to be more inclusive, accepting and understanding with these various Mopars with other makes engines and so forth??Next thing you know we'll be talking transgen cars . Kinda like removing the original exhaust pipes and adding non original front bumper guards from a cheby! Is it a bridge too far to Consider whether a car with another makes Powerplant is the equivalent of a sex change, Or how about the possibility of a 100% Mopar at birth that now feels like Chevy, so among the many abominations and butchery that occurs in our beloved Mopar world we need to be more inclusive, accepting and understanding with these various Mopars with other makes engines and so forth??
I'm not sure I understand you dislike for these terms. The Barracuda ran from 1964 - 1974. During that time, there were 3 definite "Generations". 1964 - 1966 was the first generation, 1967-1969 was the second generation and 1970 - 1974 was the third generation. I do not see a problem. What’s with this current fad or trend with labeling everything as 1st Gen, 2nd Gen, 1st Generation 3rd generation etc nonsense? I don’t see a problem either. A 64-66 Barracuda is a 64-66 Barracuda, I see no need to Identify those years as 1st Generation or the 67-69’s as 2nd and so on. If I had a 67 Cuda, I got a 67 Cuda. Why add an additional label. Who asks “what generation Cuda is that”? Or “what year is that second generation Cuda?” Nobody asks that, they just ask what year it is. It’s just the “latest lingo” catch phrase that all the kids are using. No need to take offense. All in good fun sir.I'm not sure I understand you dislike for these terms.
