I know this is a long shot...but does anybody out there in A-body land know what happend to Gerald Robinson's #29 Barracuda that he raced in 1970 in the Trans Am series? I'm pretty sure it was mostly a '67...with a '68 hood, judging from the few photos I've seen (grainey B&W) I'm looking for photos, history etc especially anything with specs like color, engine and so-on. Google has coughed up some info...but mostly on the E-bodies. I ordered the '70 Trans Am series DVD and that has some color footage of it..but little else. As far as I know it was the only 2nd gen A-body Barracuda to compete in the Trans Am racing series in '68,'69& '70...maybe in '67 as factory support from Mopar ended until 1970.

If I can find enough info I may build a clone with my '69 Fastback...

Thanks in advance

Never saw any pictures of it. I didnt know there were any 67-69 fish racing trans am.

Hope this works...

If not got to picturetrail, enter "ontos" in view member box..

Thanks, been to most of those sites though. Haven't had much luck with the internet on this...I'll keep digging...

Thanks

I posted some questions, we'll see what happens to an A-body guy that posts on a tubby E-Body board!

I saw that you were on the E-Body board, so I P.M.d you over there. What do you mean by tubby? I think all those E-Body guys should blaw, blaw. :D Hope you can find your answers from someone wherever. Best of luck on the project. Ray

 I've driven a few E-bodies...compared to my svelt "A" they were BIG! now a "B" or a ocean liner like a "C"? way too much air displacment!

Besides...everybody knows that the 1968 Barracuda FASTBACK was the best design ever built :p  (which is why my '69 is "beakless", has a '68 nose...)

Rock shields up!!!

Could this be Gerald Robinson's #29 Barracuda? The pictures is unidentified in the New England Region SCCA's picture archive. Some people think the photo was taken at Watkins Glen, New York and could have been a trans am race, but others think it might also be from Bryar Motorsport Park in New Hampshire. He did a race there too, but did not finish.

the car Ontos is referring to is a 68 Barracuda Fastback.

are you saying Gerald Robinson also raced a 66 Barracuda?

There are a few threads about Trans Am racing, and I believe the car was mentioned. I believe it was a 67 running a 273. Actually finished ahead of the 305 in the E body once or twice.

Yea. Guess this thread goes back before either Steve or I were posting here, but discussed in mopax.
The last clue I reported there was finding Gerarld Robinson's hometown listed in the race results posted here: http://www.autocourse.ca/archives/track-archives/monttremblant/1970-transam.htm
IIRC Robinson did reasonably well in one T/A race. When you look at the vehicle attrition the big bore class in 1970, that was pretty good for an independent. Now I have to remember where that website is with scans/photos of the race results.
We never got too far with either the car or the driver.
There was a namesake independent in the early 70s whose Anthony Robinson is active in the SCCA. I contacted the Anthony in 2005. He thought it was his dad. Nope. His dad only raced on the west coast and drove a Corvette. Before that his dad was driving NHRA.

Now that the SCCA archives is established in a professional research library, I've been meaning to make another request to see if they have any additional info.
