How to ruin a classic muscle car era Mopar

ROFL beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
You cannot dictate what another artist does with their canvas but you can be a critic.

I may share your sentiment, but there isn’t much good said about critics.

we are getting old sir.
I'm 50 so wouldn't really consider myself too awful old but I will admit to being wise.......lol

OLD??? You must be kidding! It was just yesterday when I looked at a brand new 64 Sport Fury! In the dealer showroom!!!

We simply cannot appreciate the millennial (except maybe Rainy, & a few) modifications.

my auto mechanic a/c & brake instructor has red neon lights on his slightly late model Ford pickup. And he thinks that the 4.6 is great on torque.
I don’t correct him, but suppress my eye brows!

Well, I'll put it this way for me in my opinion I have a car a 70 swinger it's slant 6 auto car I got for $400 a few years ago it's getting cut up for big block drag duty.
So I will cut the fender wells for headers, nice coated 2 inch hookers, my engine is nice looking hemi orange & aluminum bolt on's.
I'm mini tubbing it. Moving the springs in, putting 15x3.5 & 15x12 weld draglites on it.
But I'm painting it like a factory car with a bumblebee stripe.
Probably putting a 6 pack hood on it when I can afford to.
It's a low dollar car, it's a piece of crap as it is now, so anything I do to it will make it better.

I litterly have everything done to this car that folks here listed as not liking.

Stickers, check.
Stink bug look, check.
Big *** wing, check
One million gauges, check.
Ford rear end, check.

When I built that car it was not built for sale. That was "my" car. I built it just for me. The entire car was fitted to me.
Everything about it was exactly what I wanted.

The strange thing is this. That will probably be the LAST time I build a car "just for me".

I always worried about not being able to sell it because it was so much "my car".

Lucky my dad decided he wanted it and is now dealing with all the problems of biuying a car that is such a one trick pony.

So did I ruin that dart?

Well yeah kinda but I set out to ruin it from day one. And It's only ruined if you plan to be in the car for more than 15 min. Other than that its perfect. (To me)

:)

I'm not familiar with the stink bug look lol.
I got a Dana 60 going in, I may do 68 s/s wheel wells & one of those flat of the deck lid spoilers with something added to the sides to make the quarter panels appear longer like the 67-69.
I got stickers, I'll put em on if it's fast lol

I don`t mind the stink bug look, I was a 70s teenager, all the hot rods were jacked up in the back, and if the tires stuck out too far guys built wheel flaring's.
The style went away but is remembered.
To each their own...

Stink bug, got it jacked *** !
My first Mopar love was a 70 or 71 cuda black, behind it at a stop light it was tubbed & the *** was up at super model height. When the tire smoke cleared my mom was able to drive thru the intersection lol. I think I was 5, so early 80s

Oh yeah, the photo actually loaded so I can see it.
Uh that's sumbitch is badass, I got the deck lid spoiler idea from your car & after seeing the wheel wells on yours I love it.
I knew you were cool, but now I know how cool.

Im really not that cool but thanks!

I stole the wing shape from the fastest leaf spring car at the time.

If its good enough for them its good enough for me.

A paint scheme that only Ray Charles could love, oversized circus wheel/tire combos, modern drivelines , seats out of your 2008 Charger, LED lights and or some other goofy looking **** light that only a 14 year old would pick out, aftermarket instrument clusters and gauge setups that take away from the original dash look......these are some of my immediate pet peeves that I feel are an embarrassment to the classic muscle car era Mopars......in my opinion.
I am getting the feeling that you only like bone stock Mopars. Since 15-inch wheels were not available on my 69 Barracuda, would that be an oversized wheel? If I put modern gauges in my car to better monitor vital statistics, is that ruining my car? If I put a 5.7 hemi in my car, is that ruining it? I think my point is that I both agree and disagree with you. Personally, I too lean towards more stock looking classic cars, but I do enjoy tasteful modifications. I like modern, comfortable seats in older cars if the interior isn't too wild. I would kind of like some modern, comfortable seats in my 69 F, but I would have them covered to look like 69 Barracuda seats. The big thing is that individuality is the backbone of our sport. Restore, restify, modify and customize; it's up to the individual. I think it would be boring if you went to an all Mopar show with 200 cars and they were all bone stock.

OK you wanna play.....we can play....care to in detail tell me what about my barracuda doesn't scream Mopar??? Must be the Hemi style hood because they never put them on 68 barracudas.....got me there.......or maybe it's the factory seats utilizing factory seat covers.......yup your 2 for 2.......ahhh I know....it must be that 415" small block LA Mopar engine under the hood.......you got more? Figured you did......must be the factory color paint with no dipshit who knows what ******* car they belong to stripes......dang your good.......should I apologize now for my car that in no way shape or form resembles what a muscle car era Mopar looks like?
Nice ride!

I'll respond, but only once.
These old girls are 50-60 years old now- that's older than Model Ts were when I was a kid.
To discount major deviatons from stock on our cars would be to dismiss the entire car hobby.
You'd have to eliminate every T bucket, highboy or roadster built in the last 70 years. Every Tri-5 Chevy that did not come from the factory with its current drivetrain, every pre-mid 60s car that now has disc brakes or a more modern transmission, or even radial tires.
To dis modified cars is to negate the usefulness of the entire aftermarket support of the hobby.
The use of newer parts is necessary to keep our vehicles on the road as the availability of good original parts becomes harder and harder, and in many cases improves the safety aspect of the cars to boot. Take away the option to update cars (safely) and we may as well just send them all to the scrap heap right now.
Worse than legislation, worse than Californian Eco-Nazis, and worse than time itself; closed-mindedness will be the death of our hobby, not the savior of it.
So, rock on all you people with seemingly hare-brained ideas, unique perspectives and/or the desire to keep an older, vintage auto on the road by any means possible. It may not be to my taste, but there's always someone who doesn't like what you're doing- just be thankful that we're still allowed to do it.
Keep modifying if that's what you're into; and keep the hot rod spirit alive.

You say that then give us your opinions lol

Well, assuming it's not the For Sale or How-To section, the point of a post is to garner a response. Therefore, my opinion of the OP's post was asked for...

Re read the thread title dude, your opinion is a criticism of the title. Not the same.
If a person doesn't like a thread title, that person doesn't need to comment now do they ?

Nothing ruined about those

My. take is always best to preserve the best example of our hobby, cars that need preserving. People, and if not illegal, they can all do as they want. If person changes any car to the point it can not be put back to original, then that is what it is.
Want to buy my car? Don't like its color buy it and change it. Don't like my wheels, buy it and make it yours. Etc etc
I cut it up and ruined it???, look elsewhere.
Silly me.

I'm different. I am not concerned with what other people think. When I was young (around 17) I had people laugh and say, "Why are you spending money on that car?" When I was done, they changed their tune and I won just about everyone's respect. I set a goal and completed it. " I did it my way." And that's all that matters! Your opinion is just that... Your opinion...

Your initial post.

Did I?

Your initial post.
Yes you did.......Model A's and T's were not appealing in any way shape or form as they were produced and the only time they ever receive any kind of attention is when they have been extensively modified......whereas I specifically stated CLASSIC MUSCLE ERA MOPARS were essentially perfect in looks and styling right from the factory.......I will not back down nor apologize for my beliefs that some people, in their misguided ideas of taste and stying, ruin these almost perfect cars.
